itsadaytona Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Has anyone used this before? Any thoughts on it? Thanks http://www.modelcargarage.com/store/pc/vie...mp;idproduct=63
crazyjim Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 haven't used it. I did a vinyl top on a 1970 Challenger following a post on this forum (I think). Glued 2 styrene strips to the roof to resemble the overlap strips, and strips at the side & rear base of the roof line. Sprayed the roof with spray adhesive and then matt black. Looks pretty good.
rtcarey11 Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Just put on on a 70 1/2 camaro. Not to hard; just take your time. add thin evergreen stips to the body for the seperation trim. measure out the roof and start with the side pieces first. Lay the tape from the roof first and burnish it the whole way down. trim the excess and measure your top piece . It's really not that bad; looks really good when your done. Ray Carey rtcarey11
Spike Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 i just use masking tape and paint it semi-gloss black
Casey Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 i just use masking tape and paint it semi-gloss black You may want to try the Testors Vinyl Top texture paint. It won't dry up and start peeling off in a few years like masking tape will. I've heard good things about Testors vinyl top system, and it comes in both black and white. Just food for thought.
