I'm currently working on the Revell '69 Nova. But I'm going to backdate it to the '68, the only real difference is the dash, And headrests in the interior. As far as the body, just the fender gills need to be removed. I have the model car garage detail set for the emblems. My question is what dashboard would be close, or could I convert the kit part. Back when I built my '68 Acadian 11 years ago that was the only flaw. The dashboard. I just got back on the forum yesterday as my old account unfortunately got lost. SPKGIBSON was my old account on here. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. These two cars are the one's I'm working on.

I dig your '68 Acadian (Astro Jet 350 under the bonnet?), and I remember your '72 Demon 340 in TB3 Super Blue

The only differences that I'm aware of between the '68 and '69 dashboard is that the '68 has the ignition on the dashboard; the steering wheel is also a '68-only item, too (the AMT 1968 SS-396 El Camino has the correct one). I can't speak to the rest of the 1968-only items, other than the grille (CHEVY II emblem), SUPER SPORT emblems on the forward portion of the rocker panels, and that drum brakes were standard (last year for drums on a SS Nova).

I am a Nova fan, but not by any means an expert. After reading this thread, I did some Googling, and was amazed to see just how different the '68 and '69 dashes really were, including the pad. No, I don't have any helpful suggestions for you on how to backdate the '69 kit interior.

It would be great if we can figure out a way to get one done. Seems 1968 car's are overlooked alot. Just the dash, removing the headrests from the seats and moving the Nova emblems to the rear quarter's. I'd love to see Revell bring out the Grumpy's Toy '68 Nova.

A 2-in-1 would be the best! Stock 1968 SS-396, with 4-speed and TH-400 (COPO) options, with a vintage S/S option. Heck, throw a 350 in for good measure.

I thought about building the 68 Dick Harrell Nova or Grumpys’ 68 Nova too but the dash has kept me from building either one.looks like it would either have to be scratch built or maybe you could have someone that has a 3D printer to make one.

GM went to the steering column ignition/locking steering anti-theft design for 1969 which left the earlier ignition-on-dashboard design unique for '68. Even the steering wheel was different from the '69-onward design.

The steering wheel in AMT '68 El Camino SS396 kit appears to be the best bet to mimic a stock '68 Chevy II steering wheel.
