Yes, one of best, indeed. Jeff Beck stayed out of the limelight, he was never interested in fame. He was a true innovator on the guitar, more of a guitarists' guitarist. From his early work with The Yardbirds (a band that included Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page at different times), to his solo (Truth and Beck-Ola, with Rod Stewart on vocals) and Jeff Beck Group (Rough and Ready and the Jeff Beck Group album (had an orange on the cover), to Beck Bogart and Appice and on to his prog era (Blow By Blow (sold a million copies) and Wired) Beck was always looking for new sounds. Heck, he even did an opera. One of his most recent albums, Loud Hailer, was with two young English women. Yes, you could say I'm a fan.

Funnily enough, Beck would have been rather working on his hot rods than playing the guitar! RIP -Jeff Beck.... -RRR

Recommended listening?

Blow by Blow and Guitar Shop

Yardbirds, Truth and Beck-Ola are essential listening. I've tried to get into Guitar Shop (listened to most of it last night) and I know many like that release, but it lacks emotion to me. To each his or her own. Check out Loud Hailer, very interesting album.... -RRR

Just hearing this news now. Very sorry to hear. Love his style. Great taste in hot rods, too. He will really be missed. Never knew who he would collaborate with next. No matter how unlikely the pairing, the result was always pleasing. R.I.P Jeff Beck. Thanks for the lovely music.

Think I’ll head on down to the basement and crank up some Blow By Blow.
