Smilesperhour Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 I've paused my Camaro for now as come up against a few issues with wheel arches. So while I figure that out I've pulled out a charity shop find. It's missing the photo etch parts and also a wheel. So I'll source some nice 1:43 wheels from elsewhere. The body is a bit battered so I'll practice some filling and reshaping on this. I'm going to make it a racer but not sure what car yet. What I am starting with
cobraman Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 Those are such cool little kits. I built a few of them. The Corvette is also a great little kit. I wish they would have continued and made more of them. 1
Smilesperhour Posted February 12, 2023 Author Posted February 12, 2023 My kits missing instructions and I'm struggling where this fits?
Bennyg Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 You might be able to find instructions on “scale mates”. Cheers Ben
cobraman Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 Maybe this will help you . I have a kit in my Cobra stash . Plus pic of one I built . 2 1
Smilesperhour Posted February 12, 2023 Author Posted February 12, 2023 Thanks so much that's a huge help!!!
Smilesperhour Posted February 12, 2023 Author Posted February 12, 2023 Your cobra looks ace too, think I'm gonna go for a club racer. Thinking about modifying the hood with a scoop
Smilesperhour Posted February 13, 2023 Author Posted February 13, 2023 The exhaust on one side has been cut short which means the headers don't sit quite far enough forward hence it has a slightly squiffy look to the engine in the frame. I've decided to go for a clubman (cobra raced after its prime) style look. The rear of the body has been almost melted in places given a hand beaten panel look like a racer that's seen better days and I think I'm gonna keep it as part of the cars riches to rags racer look. 1
Smilesperhour Posted February 16, 2023 Author Posted February 16, 2023 Been having a play with couloirs and I've picked racing white from tamiya. I like that it's a creamy white. Got lucky with being able to use my future father in law's garage to try some more spraying. This will be being stripped though as it needs some more smoothing out plus I need to sort out that red hood! 1
Smilesperhour Posted February 17, 2023 Author Posted February 17, 2023 So the missing wheels, steering wheel and dashboard where solved using a junked diecast AC ace and wheels from an old best Ferrari that was in a bad way. 3
