How did I miss this?

Love this project.  My first new car was Medium Quasar Blue Metallic '93 Chevy so I'm partial to that color.  I recently did the 1/32 Trans Am.  I'm looking for one of these 1/32 Corvettes to accompany it.

Thanks,
Ismael

Thank you for your kind comment Ismael.  I agree, Medium Quasar Blue Metallic is a beautiful color and I have plans to use it again on a future project.

As I was doing research for this build, I did come across some other copies of this kit available on e-bay, so they are still out there. Maybe you'll get lucky and find one for a reasonable price.

Thanks again,

Hello Everybody!

I'm getting close to wrapping up this build. I was ready to shoot the final paint on Sunday but the wind kicked up and it's been blowey for the past two days.  Since I paint outside on my patio, windy days are no-paint days.

In the mean time... The side pipes are chunky and lack detail. I thought about redoing them using a smaller diameter "pipe" and adding heat shields but I decided that doing that would go against my original intention of keeping this a simple rebuild using mainly what's provided by the kit. But I did drill out the ends and repair them using some 1/16" styrene rod to replace the broken mounting pins.

Here are the side pipes all painted up and ready to install.

Hello Everybody!

I thought I was going to have to make a replacement for the windshield but I managed to get the original one cleaned up and polished well enough to make use of it. After installing the windshield, I found that the hood sits a little high in the back when closed. The thickness of the the hood and windshield together prevents it from closing completely.

My plan now is to file down the underside of the back of the hood to reduce its thickness enough to allow it to close properly. In and of itself, this is not a big issue. The only trouble is that I have very little paint left. I probably enough to finish the job, but maybe not. I suppose I'll find out.

Filing down the hood still didn't give me enough leeway to get it to close completely so I ended up filing the windshield down a little bit along the bottom edge too. There was a bit of a flash or a casting lip along that edge and removing that and some additional material gave me just enough clearance to get the hood to lay down more like it should.

The only thing left was to clean up and repaint.

I masked and painted the hood using the last of the paint that was in the can. Unfortunately when I removed the masking part of the paint went along with it. Luckily, I was able to repair it by using a bit of thinned PA to glue the paint back in place.  I'm glad it's in an out of the way area.

That's all for this round, I should have this one finished in the next couple of days.

As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to post a comment.
