Then you answered you question. The car would be the better choice for now .

Agreed!!!!

and that 3rd gen looks to be in pretty good shape, too :)

I wish my '88 IROC looked that good!!

Like everyone has said, it's all about the amount of fun you will get from either. You know exactly what you have with the Quad but will the Camaro cost you more than you can afford? The pictures tell me a few things...

#1) The motor ( with how many hard miles?) has been tinkered with by who, and how much do they know about one of these?

#2) The front air dam and blacked out lights could be an attempt to hide some minor body damage. Far from factory stock if that is a concern for you.

#3) The intereior is filthy and has seat covers. The seats in third and fourth gens take a beating in the lumbar bolster areas and can be expensive to replace.

I'm leaning towards the Camaro for two reasons: To drive it like you stole it or to restore it to its original glory... The choice is only yours .

Just a suggestion from experience. I see there is snow on the ground in your pics. I would highly suggest taking the car to a garage and putting it up on the lift to inspect the underside, especially the frame rails and so forth for rust. I looked at a Trans Am GTA a few years ago that looked to be in "good" condition, like this Camaro. However, when I got it on the lift, the real problems showed their ugly faces as the frame was rusted through as well as the floorboards. The car was basically only good for parts.

Just a suggestion, as i said. But I'd make double darned sure there wasn't something wrong with the car that the owner isn't telling you. It just seems as though a quad for a Camaro is too good to be true, if you know what I mean...

Well, as everyone before me stated, the decision is yours. I feel as though perhaps you already made the decision for the camaro, and just want to be backed up for it and you are slightly hesitant on letting go of the quad.

Here are my thought processes

1: you state you live somewheres, where the quad can not be ridden. The Quad is a over priced toy and a desire not some form of possible neccesity. In todays economy, it will only get harder and harder to sell or trade off the quad

2: The camaro looks not well taken care of on the inside, wich would leed one to only assume that someone has not taken the best of care witht hte mechanicals of it. However it does have nice road side appeal to it and a good detailing could make it worth a few hundred more. A car is good to have as a back up if your other vehicle happens to die or need repairs. In this time of recession, poeple may still need to buy a car so it would be easier to sell if you had to!

So, personally my first thought would be to sellt he quad for cash and put it into a savings account to rely on. Never know if you may end up jobless now and need it! Or, the second choice would be to trade it for the camaro if anything then at least as a asset.

Thanks. Jody

I don't know much about quads but I know they can be pricey and I know a good deal on a good 3rd gen Camaro is not hard to come by at all. My guess is if you run the numbers you'd probably be able to sell that quad for enough to buy decent 3rd gen and have money left over for repairs and upgrades.

Besides where would the short tracks of the world be without the '70s Camaro? I see track refugees on the road every day. I'm not trying to be a smart a** just the cold hard facts. I should know I'm the tech official at the local 1/4 dirt track in Banks Oregon. 80% of the Street and Pure stock classes are '70s Camarps.
