As I finish up my Garlits FE digger I was perusing a box of kits and ran into this one. While it's not my usual drag car or figure I thought it time to do a pre war hot rod. My Rodfather build was more fun than I expected and with my parts stash I know I have a mountain of stuff I can glue weld or screw onto this and make it decent.

This kit is far better than I expected with name brand dress up goodies and an extremely nice SBC on the trees. I dug out a 20+ year old jar of Boyd's yellow enamel and with some Mr Color leveling thinner shot it onto the body. It came out so smooth I decided to go with the suede look and that helped guide my next choices as to how I would proceed.

Purple is never my first choice of color but here with that yellow I feel it works.. With some Revell drag tires and wheels and a naturally aspirated small block it has just the right amount to make a mid 80's street machine.

I went through my decal stash and pulled out the flames for the reissued ex Monogram 66 Chevelle, and with some trimming and positioning I came up with some door flames. The Rat Fink on the deck lid and maybe a few sponsor type decals and it looks the part of a driveway project.

Finally, the mock up showed me I was on the right path.

Thanks for looking. Suggestions and comments, good or ill are always welcomed.

Work continues. PE alternator bracket, fuel line and plug wires run. Front suspension installed. I have to make up some brackets for the headlights but all scratchbuilding is done.

These types of hot rods build quickly, and fun has been had.
