MrMiles Posted June 6, 2023 Posted June 6, 2023 i am trying to find the correct color for the 1966 ford fairlane gt engine valve color. I have searched google for concours 390 correct and i am coming up with 4 different colors so far. the instructions say blue, but i dont always trust that because I have found incorrect info on the instructions in the past 1. chrome: Maybe? i know on the cobra jet version it was chrome, but I am not sure if the 390 was as well 2. black: I am pretty sure this is not correct 3. ford blue: maybe? 4. silver color: maybe?
1972coronet Posted June 6, 2023 Posted June 6, 2023 IIRC, the 390 Thunderbird Special had plated rocker covers and air cleaner lid.
Fat Brian Posted June 6, 2023 Posted June 6, 2023 The vast majority of the ones I saw were blue with chrome stamped valve covers. The 427 cars has black engines with chrome stamped valve covers.
Rodent Posted June 6, 2023 Posted June 6, 2023 I owned a 1:1 '67 GTA in the late '70s and it was "corporate" blue with chrome rocker covers and air cleaner lid. The '66 had a chrome open element air cleaner like on the 289 HiPo.
