arby1949 Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 Current endeavor: This is the 1970 AAR Barracuda driven by Swede Savage during the 1970 season. Fred Cady decals, scratch built roll cage, first time using solder for headers.
curt raitz Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 Very nice start with good detail work lookin' forward to your progress on this car... About 4 years ago Ken Epsman, who owns the '69 Sunoco Camaro, '70 Dodge Challenger and the '72 AMC Javelin paid me to build models of his cars along with both Cuda's, Jerry Titmus' Trans Am, Jim Hall's Camaro and the Parnelli Jones Mustang. He gave each model to the present owners as a gift for Christmas...current information on the these Trans Am cars can be found on: http://www.historictransam.com/homepage.htm Model Racing Magazine did articles on the cars raced in the Trans Am series in the late 60's and early 70's...helped a lot in building these cars, was a lot of fun and the guyz enjoyed getting a scale model of their car.
VW Dave Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 I'm also looking forward to updates on this one, as E-body Mopars are one of my favorite things. For a first-time effort, those headers really look the business!
arby1949 Posted February 23, 2009 Author Posted February 23, 2009 Thanks guys for the comments. Curt, I am very familiar with the historic trans am site. That is where I get most of my reference material from. Also you might want to check out "atspeedimages.com. So far I have done the '69 Camaro #6, the "70 Parnelli Jones #15, the #77 Challenger, and the "71 Javelin #6. I don't know if there are any more trans-am cars that I want to do, except maybe the '67 Parnelli Jones Cougar. I wish they would race these cars on the east coast, so I could see them close up. All this came about from building the #11 Donohue GT-350R, and one thing led to another.
arby1949 Posted April 6, 2009 Author Posted April 6, 2009 finally complete (I think) '70 Swede Savage 'cuda.
