Rbray47 Posted July 26, 2023 Posted July 26, 2023 It was called Garnet Red in the 90s, correct? I'm building a Revell Caprice and I was thinking doing it red on red. What paint would be a good match for the interior, something off the shelf at either Hobby Lobby or Hobbytown? Thanks!

You would want to top it with a flat or a very low sheen topcoat since a majority of these interiors were a cloth finish on the seating surface. The seat backs and door panels as well as the dash would be some sort of vinyl, so maybe a little more sheen than the seating surfaces.
av405 Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 I've seen some use TS-33 Dull Red. I haven't used it personally, but I bought a can to have it on hand for a Chevy C-1500 project I have planned. My goal is also to duplicate the Garnet Red interior.
espo Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 Whichever color you think about using try a spray out on a picnic spoon is the best way to see if it will give you the color you are after. This will also save you from striping the interior if the color doesn't look right to you.
Rbray47 Posted July 28, 2023 Author Posted July 28, 2023 Thanks for the help. I have some Mica red, but even after dulling i worry the metallic pigment would show. I may stop and get a can of dull red and try both. 2
