ZTony8 Posted September 7, 2023 Posted September 7, 2023 A model buddy asked to post this query. His basement got 2-3 inches of nasty water in it and some kits got wet. What is the best procedure to use to clean the plastic bits?
Dpate Posted September 7, 2023 Posted September 7, 2023 (edited) Good ole regular non scented dawn + water. Let it soak for little bit, and they’ll be clean as they’ll get. You don’t need super clean, or any other type of cleaner. Just good ole dawn. If you want extra cleaning power just use 4x dawn. Can also use a cheap soft bristle toothbrush if you need to scrub a little. Edited September 7, 2023 by Dpate 1
Bainford Posted September 7, 2023 Posted September 7, 2023 Pretty much any decent cleaner with ruin, or at least damage, chrome plating. If by 'nasty water' you are referring to a bio-hazard, I would use bleach diluted with water. Fill a large container with diluted bleach and let the parts soak for a while. Then rinse very well with warm water, and use a soft bristle scrub brush if necessary. Beware, though, that bleach will remove the chrome. 1
Mike 1017 Posted September 7, 2023 Posted September 7, 2023 All of the above will work. Make sure he uses vinyl or latex gloves. Nasty stuff lives in nasty water Mike
