atomicholiday Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 If I tried that it would have a nice chrome squiggle all over the place.? 1
Slotto Posted September 19, 2023 Author Posted September 19, 2023 The body is still a bit too tacky to fiddle with but I like living on the edge. I went after the emblems, painted up the turn signals and the boot I wish I would have used BMF of the trunk and hood letters. 1
customline Posted September 21, 2023 Posted September 21, 2023 The grille looks great, Steve. I always liked the LTD grille, a big upgrade over the standard Galaxy smile. 1
Againmikewins Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 I just flocked the floor of my ‘70 Pontiac Bonneville and it looks like dog food. How’d you make yours look so great? I’m enjoying this build. I have a ‘66 Galaxie waiting to be built someday! 1

How’d you make yours look so great? Thanks Mike. Everyone does things different. I like to paint the floor and package tray the color I plan to use first. Then I apply a healthy coat of Elmer's white glue with a brush. Keep it an even coat. Give it a minute to level out then I use a home made sive -A tablespoon with the bottom cut out screen material in place of the cup. I fill the sive with flocking material and spank it over the project. After fully covered, I tamp the material down with a scratch built tamper -tube styrene and scrap styrene. Again, everybody has different techniques, this is what works for me.
bobss396 Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 I had one of our past club members Rich Manson show me how to flock at his dining room table. It was on a '58 Chevy custom I was doing. I used Testors jar paint and it looked good when done. But had to move fast. The white glue would give more "pot life" for sure. I still have a box with some flocking and the strainer in it.
Slotto Posted September 22, 2023 Author Posted September 22, 2023 pushing forward, still so much to do 3
