hedotwo Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 Would someone be able to post a pic of one of the coil springs that MPC used on the 68 Corvette (and others) along with the measurements? Obviously, I have a junkyard kit that is missing the springs and I'd like to try and wind my own. Thanks a bunch!
Monty Posted September 16, 2023 Posted September 16, 2023 IIRC MPC stopped using the metal springs after the '76 Corvette kits, so the chances of someone having them might be pretty low. Here's what you do: the frame has "pockets" where the springs go. Find a coarse threaded screw that fits in there, then wrap an appropriate gauge of beading wire around it to make the spring. Extra detail: in 1:1 C3 Corvettes, the front shock absorbers go inside the spring. The kit doesn't have front shocks, but you can make them easily from overlapping pieces of brass or plastic. Paint them a color (yellow?) that makes it easier for them to be seen. 1
