Harpo Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 I'm finally get back into the hobby, it's been a while since I posted! I have quite a few kits in my stockpile, but wanted something easy so I chose the MPC Monkeemobile. At least it should be easy... I think they made a mold in Silly Putty from an old kit built by an eight year old, and cast it in 50:50 styrene/bubblegum. This is the strangest plastic I have ever seen - you can't cut, sand, or file it cleanly at all, it just balls up. Anyone experienced this? In any event, I'll get it done then move on to something more appealing and less frustrating. It's good to be back! 2
ColonelKrypton Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 Welcome back. I have never build one of the issues of the Monkee Mobile. Always thought it was a neat looking custom. I have had a couple of kits where the plastic was soft, mushy, and just not very nice. I tried, beat on them with a hammer, but I never finished any of them. Just too frustrating. cheers, Graham
Harpo Posted November 22, 2023 Author Posted November 22, 2023 I had to abandon this one, the plastic won't sand smooth and it's just not worth 10x the normal effort to create a substandard result.
Kenmojr Posted November 22, 2023 Posted November 22, 2023 Cool...Harpo Marx builds a Monkee Mobile... 1
Bugatti Fan Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 (edited) Pity about the plastic in the kit. As for the Monkees themselves, I think that only Mickey Dolenz survives. Edited November 24, 2023 by Bugatti Fan
