Dys Posted November 11, 2023 Posted November 11, 2023 Like the title states, what current model kit could I use as a donor chassis to replicate a 1975 Cutlass 442 or a 1973 Chevelle? My thought was that maybe the 1971 Cutlass might work.I don't have a whole lot of knowledge regarding A bodies. I'm really in my initial planning/discovery phase before I tackle a build. I've purchased a resin body and don't want to do a curbside. I appreciate any and all knowledge the group could provide. Thanx!
Rob Hall Posted November 11, 2023 Posted November 11, 2023 I would think any of the '68-72 A body kits would work, the chassis didn't change much for the '73-77 generation..same 112 inch wheelbase for 2drs. The recent Revell '68-69 Chevelle or MPC/AMT '69 Cutlass would be good chassis donors as they have the most detail compared to the older AMT/MPC kits. I have resin '73 Cutlasses and a resin '73 Chevelle that came w/ chassis, and the caster's chassis looks a lot like the AMT or Revell kits, IMO.
Fat Brian Posted November 11, 2023 Posted November 11, 2023 I would try to use the Revell 68/69 Chevelle kit. The inner front fenders are part of the chassis on that kit so they don't have to be cut out of the body and attached to the new one. You still will need to cut the cowl out though.
