Dewey Crowe Posted December 14, 2023 Posted December 14, 2023 I’ve put together a couple of Hubley kits and have had so much trouble with the screws that I just glue everything together. How does everyone else do it? I’d really like to use the screws but can only get a few turns before I can’t get them to go any further.
iBorg Posted December 14, 2023 Posted December 14, 2023 I've not built one but have a few. If the threads are machine threads, you might need to tap them. I've got some from the early years (Hubley's) and they're not cast that well. I think that's a part of the metal molding process.
Mark Posted December 14, 2023 Posted December 14, 2023 I did a couple of them many years ago, never had a problem with the screws. If anything, I'd think that later production kits would have more potential to be problematic, with the parts being cast in worn-out tooling.
