Jantrix Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 The AMT Black Cat Cougar kit comes with two engine choices- one tranny. One engine is obviously the Boss 429. The other I have seen called a 351C or 429CJ by different folks. I'm using this engine in a project and I'd sure like to see this engine correctly identified before I put the build in a contest and get schooled by some rivet counter. I'm not Ford savvy enough to myself to correctly identify it. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Jantrix Posted March 15, 2009 Author Posted March 15, 2009 Val, with all your blue oval drag racing experience, I guess you'de be the guy to know for sure. Thanks very much. Here's the now identified 351C, in my Cherry 2000 Mustang project.
phantomw Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 (edited) NO PROBLEM BRO. I LOVE ALL THE RUST AND ALL WEATHERING U DO. Edited March 15, 2009 by phantomw
george 53 Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Phantom's right on this one Rob.The 429SCJ and the 351C are 2 totally different engines that have NOTHING in common, other than being V-8's and both made by Ford. Could never understand why Ford made so many different engines with no compatability between them.Guess that was one of their so called Better Ideas. Such a WASTE!( and NO I am NOT a Ford fan!)

Because to win at Daytona, Pomona, Monte Carlo, Indy and LeMans, that little "one size fits all" orange engine just wouldn't have gotten the job done! And I AM a Ford fan.
