ewaskew Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 The meaning of NASCAR in the beginning {National Association Stock Car Auto Racing} . The meaning of the word the way things are now { Not A Stock Car Auto Race}. Like in the beginning the cars should have stayed all American brands.NOT TOYOTA'S just because there built here in the U.S.A. The so called {C.O.T.} CAR OF TOMORROW as it was being talked about before it hit the track was misleading. The real meaning of {C.O.T.} is ###### ON TRACK. All they do is follow each other, no real racing involved, even the short tracks are BORING. My wife will ask me where there racing, and I will tell her I don't know because I have lost interest in the sport that it is suppose to be, and don't keep up with it. I heard about the dramatic finish when Mark Martin won the race. When I caught up with the replay of how he won on gas mileage. I was not surprised that NASCAR would call that dramatic. I call it smart team work. Dramatic is old school beating and banging and fighting your way to the front and REALLY winning a race.
old-hermit Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 NASCAR is nothing but professional wrestling on wheels. It's all BS. They know who's gonna win before the race. It's a shame that all racing has become about the $$$$$, with mega buck sponsors and forcing out the little guys who started it and made it popular.
62SS Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Give me a good old fashioned dirt Late Model race anyday. That's real racing!!Not a bunch of Pansies worried about scratching the paint or breaking a finger nail. I'm a Tony Stewart fan, But I'd rather watch him drive a dirt late model or a sprint car. As far as I'm concerned, NASCAR started dying when Dale Earnhardt died , And unless "The King" or some of the "Good Ole Boys" have something to say about it, IT AINT COMIN' BACK!!!!
sak Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 Can somebody tell me exactly how much difference there is in the engines themselves. I understand that there are all the same displacement, but are the teams free to use whatever types they choose( overhead cams, superchargers ect.)
roadhawg Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 (edited) Can somebody tell me exactly how much difference there is in the engines themselves. I understand that there are all the same displacement, but are the teams free to use whatever types they choose( overhead cams, superchargers ect.) Nascar must approve all the engines, and they must be 8 cylinder OHV with a single carburetor. They share nothing in common with their street counterparts. Edited June 28, 2009 by roadhawg
67PontiacGTO Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 The last REAL DRIVER was Eanhardt. He drove it (and TOLD it) like it was. Even had the STONES to tell "NASCAR" (officials) to go screw acouple times I agree with this. Unfortunately I am a product of the modern Nascar generation, and I think that is it sad what Nascar has become! I would of love to see the REAL Nascar races back in the day. I used to watch Nascar every chance I got just to see Dale Earnhardt Sr. race. He was the best driver ever! I wish he was still here today, there are many of us that miss him dearly. Clutch
