Guest Gramps-xrds Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 I matched up the bodies of Revell's new 57 to AMT's old 57 and they match up perfectly. The Revell model looks pretty good. This new issue beats the old Revell 57's hands down. The old issues were junk in my oppinion. I have one of the 57 Nomads that I started to build years ago and got so frustrated with it I put it back in the box and put it on the shelf. Granted, it is detailed, but the parts look terrible and have to be reworked just to look right, example: the exhaust pipes fitting the manafolds look terrible hanging down underneath and have to be reworked to fit right. The body on the old kit looks out of proportion on the sides. I just wish that they made a 210 2dr sedan or at least put a rear seat in this 150. I still like the kit though. Kudos to Revell for this kit. Dan Dan I did the same thing w/ the revell nomad kit. It's still sitting on the shelf about half built and will probably never get finished. As for the revell 57 matching the old AMT, if it does that'd be great, but untill I see it w/ my own eyes I'm still skeptical.

You know the sad thing about the Nomad is you can't use the parts for anything else unless you swap them with the 55 of the same period, or at least I couldn't. I do believe that you will like the new 57 150 when you do get it. Dan
Chuck Most Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 My... some of us sure are fussy! "I wouldn't waste my money on that kit because the body is .040" too long!"- or whatever. Yeah, consitency does seem to be a bit lacking as far as scale fidelity goes, still... does the finished product LOOK like a '57 Chevy? Even with the junky old MPC flip nose the answer is yes! I stopped caring about such things years ago... I found that if I spent less time worrying if the grille opening was the "correct" shape, or if the track was three scale inches too wide, I would have MORE time to, I don't know- enjoy BUILDING the thing! Now, I only worry about the stuff that is grossly, painfully, obvious-even-to-a-non-modeler wrong or misproportioned. THAT kind of stuff still bugs the ###### out of me! My main problem with the Black Widow is this... yeah, it's a "rare" body style, but it's still a common-as-dirt '57 Chevy. Frankly, the world needs another 1:24/1:25 '57 Chevy about as badly as Seattle needs more rain.
Tommy Kortman Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 i guess you can't please everyone ALL the time right? there is enough different versions and variations of the '57 Chevy on the market now that you can pick your favorite and have fun. i'm sure a fan of the 4-door 210 with a straight 6 is still wondering why they havent done THAT version after all these years and endless Bel Air versions, but that's the point, you can't please everyone. if the new 150 kit is something you have wanted or even the "Black Widow" version, be happy and have fun building it any way you like, if not buy something else. Dave Hallelujah!!! Can I get an Amen Brothers!!
