Curvette1 Posted April 16, 2024 Posted April 16, 2024 This is my first WIP post on the forum. My current build started with an already built Monogram 1/12 67 Corvette 427 coupe I found on eBay for cheap. I also had other partial and full kits of this model and a 1/12 57 Chevy half built kit for the engine.i like to recycle old built kits I decided to try and make it into a convertible with a 327 and the small block hood. I started by cutting off the coupe section of the body and replacing it with sheet plastic and cutouts of the rib that runs down the rear deck including where the gas cap goes I also filled in the hole in the hood to make it the correct shape it took two layers of the plastic and the ribbed cutouts and lots of sanding and filling for the back deck.. I then built a 327/350 hp engine using the block , heads, exhaust, valve covers, bell housing and 4spd transmission from the 57 Chevy kit. I had to piece together a 4 barrel intake and ignition shielding from the 427. I made the air cleaner from various junk parts then painted and foiled the appropriate parts. I’m still trying to decide what colors to paint the body and interior. Tell me your favorite color combos. 6
bamadon Posted April 17, 2024 Posted April 17, 2024 Great project. I'll be following this for sure. I had a 67 convertible in red with black upholstery, small block 300 hp and side exhaust. It also had standard rally wheels and whitewalls. Don R
