Iraceitall Posted April 21, 2024 Posted April 21, 2024 Well I'm waiting on decals for one build, it's too windy outside to work on the 1:1 race car, so why not start another build while I'm on a roll? Combining a Salvinos Flat Nose Monte with some Monogram DW '83 Pepsi decals to build the Monte he ran occasionally in 1983, like at Rockingham, where I first saw it in a YouTube video. Time for bodywork and paint! I'll photocopy the decals to get an idea where to mask.
MarkJ Posted April 22, 2024 Posted April 22, 2024 Once the model building bug bites you its hard to stop. Will be watching closely on this one. 1
Iraceitall Posted April 22, 2024 Author Posted April 22, 2024 Laid some color down on my lunch hour. Having decent luck with Ace enamel lately.
bobss396 Posted April 23, 2024 Posted April 23, 2024 Watch with photo-copying a decal sheet, with my printer the scale is a little off. Put a scale in with whatever you are copying so you can check it. 1
Iraceitall Posted April 23, 2024 Author Posted April 23, 2024 Thanks for the tip! Mine came out spot on fortunately. All I really needed to mask off was the pillars, decals cover the rest. I need to let the yellow cure then mask for the black down low. 1
Iraceitall Posted May 11, 2024 Author Posted May 11, 2024 Nothing good to report, first I had some paint pull after masking the black off, then after fixing that, it turned out my decals were no good. Powerslide makes a set, but then I'd need to mask the white. It's in the purple pond; I wasn't dead set on a DW car, I'll revisit it later on. Maybe I'll do a Bud car or a David Pearson #16. It's time to get the 1:1 race car ready anyways.
