3men2s Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 WAS CHECKING APRIL'S HOT ROD MAGAZINE AND SAW A REPORT THAT SAID TRANS AM IS BACK AND MENTION THE POTENCIAL ON SEEN THE NEW CAMAROS, CHALENGERS, STANGS BATTLE AGAIN LIKE THE OLD DAYS!!!!! WHAT A TREAT, I CHECKED THE WEBSITE AND SAW OLD MODELS RUNNING I GUESS IS A GROUP OF RACERS TRYING TO REFIRED THE SERIES....FOR THEM, MORE POWER TO THEM. AND HOPE TO SEE NOT ONLY SUCCESS ON THE PROJECT BUT TO SEE REVELL MAKE MORE ROAD RACERS. WHEN THINKING ABOUT WHAT HAPPEN TO NASCAR I GRINCHED, BUT MAYBE SCCA IS MORE OPEN FOR NEGOCIATION. WHAT HAVE YOU HEARD???
Nick F40 Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Yeah I read about this in the last issue of Grassroots Motorsports, they are coming back but with the GT1 class cars, like the Mustangs, Camaro, Jaguar of the 90's and 00's. It still is sweet. Me personally, say we already have Trans Am back, the SCCA Speed World Challange has a lot of factory race cars but then again you never hear about that. The Grand Am Koni Cup is also a great series, real pretty much stock with few modifications race cars, and the Challenger is already racing in it, and the Camaro GS is going to be racing in that series. But then again, you never hear about them because Speed thinks nobaody cares and it doesn't bring in 3 million dollars every time it aires. I still know about and love to watch it though. Yeah the Challenger raced in the Daytona race the day before the 24 at Daytona. It's funny how the "Trans Am" cars are back in a series that most have never heard or seen about, sad really. Yeah the Mustang is already competing in this series, and now Challenger and later Camaro so yeah, they are racing it's just Speed doesn't think anybody will watch, BS....
3men2s Posted March 31, 2009 Author Posted March 31, 2009 I KNOW THE ECONOMY IS BAD, BUT THE CAR MANUFACTURES ARE STILL BUILDING...I SAY RACE ON SUNDAY, SELL ON MONDAY. TRY TO HIT YOUR MARKET. NOT EVERYONE CAN AFFORT ONE BUT WILL HAVE A FAN BASED THAT WILL DO AS SOON AS THEY CAN AND FOR RACE FANS....WE LOVE TO WATCH AND BUILD THEM. HOW MANY OF US WILL NOT BAY A COUPLE OF THOSE KITS. AND HAVE THEM FACTORY BACKED UP AND DEVELOPE ENGINES ON THEM....HI BREED, OR ALTERNATIVE FUELS. WILL BE GREAT FOR US AUTO MANUFACTURES. THE WORLD CHALLENGE CAN BE THE STEP TO TRANS AM A MORE RACE PREPARE CAR, ....I THINK I WILL BUILD ONE OF MY OWN USING AN OLD SCCA CAR AND A NEW MODEL. IT WOULD BE A GREAT IDEA FOR A BUILDOFF. TAKE A NEW MODEL MUSSLE CAR AND BUILD IT TO GT1 SPECS. INCLUDING THE ENGINE.
chris coller Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 I am all for that if it happens. I love GT cars! Now what will we have to represent the good OL' USA, a Toyota?
Nick F40 Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Well i'm glad you know about Speed World Challenge because most don't. I am all for that if it happens. I love GT cars! Now what will we have to represent the good OL' USA, a Toyota? Yeah me too, and I like love Toyota, but that's what makes Le Mans, Grand Am, SCCA, NASA, and what made Trans Am what it was back then, representing our pony cars, and they ran WHILE turning, and represented America well, and NA$CAR isn't it. Look how the Galaxie and Mustang impacted BTCC..... did some off you know that?
Zoom Zoom Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Well i'm glad you know about Speed World Challenge because most don't. Including Speed Channel themselves. Why in the world they televise their own races long after they've run, and therefore winners being already mentioned by the press, is another patently stupid Speed Channel habit. Are we sure Speed Channel is not owned/run by Bernie and Max? Or is the France family even worse? Last year I pretty much gave up trying to follow the races. They get so little priority on the TV schedule they make the fans seek it out, instead of making the races easy to find and timely. Sigh... I remember the good old days of Speedvision, where you could leave the TV on their channel and be entertained for hours at a time. I can't stand 99% of the ###### on there now.

I've said this one million other times to different people with the exact same view AMEN MAN, AMEN!!!!! The only people who watch or know/interested in this are either hardcore,me, or know about the racing and sports cars and SCCA because majority don't and chances are, if you read Grassroots or Classic Motorsports, you are into and know about all of this. You ask any one of the 24 kids in my Auto Body class and none would know what your talking about, except for one, me! And i'm darn proud! Edited March 31, 2009 by Nick F40

I guess they have to make money.....and TIVO is not a four letter word!!
Guest promodmerc Posted April 1, 2009 Posted April 1, 2009 Including Speed Channel themselves. Why in the world they televise their own races long after they've run, Because all they care about is CRAPCAR 24 hours a day. I don't know why they just don't name it the NASCAR channel.
