Coyote_6 Posted June 5, 2024 Posted June 5, 2024 (edited) It is time to take the "shop" to something more permanent and developed. I have been using 3 pieces of posterboard as a neutral photo backdrop for my finished cars - But have always wanted a "shop" to support my builds. And I always have multiple works in progress so I like a modern shop with multiple work cells. How will it start... White posterboard on three sides? Or posterboard walls I can setup on my workbench? We'll play with this and see where it goes. I see so many good ideas on this board already. Looks fun! Steve Edited June 5, 2024 by Coyote_6 1
Coyote_6 Posted June 8, 2024 Author Posted June 8, 2024 Need some strong Rubbermaid trash cans for the shop. Scounged some beauty product caps... A coat of gray primer... Used the inkjet to print on clear decal paper and voila... Trash cans for each work cell. Steve 9

Coyote_6 Posted September 7, 2024 Author Posted September 7, 2024 (edited) The shop is unchanged to date but it is Lamborghini Day in the shop. Some old work and some new. Muira is in to have its tailights refreshed and North American (California) personalized plates put on. a Liberty Walk Murcielago is being prepped for paint. Edited September 7, 2024 by Coyote_6 1
Coyote_6 Posted September 7, 2024 Author Posted September 7, 2024 (edited) And while we're at it, The Old Shop is a full service shop - paint, fabrication, mechanical, overhaul - and today, auto electronics! A couple of customers who wish to remain anonymous called ahead for some CB antennas - in 1/24 scale?? Yikes! The Trans Am currently sports a scale 0.380 inch diameter antenna - Firestick perhaps? He wants to go with something a little thinner for less wind resistance. The two boys with the orange car said their antenna got tore off when someone chased them through the old barn by the Boars Nest. We'll see what we can do. Edited September 7, 2024 by Coyote_6 2 2
Coyote_6 Posted September 7, 2024 Author Posted September 7, 2024 For today, the black Trans Am. Our supplies include 32 gauge stainless wire (dead soft unfortunately - easily bendable but easily bent), some 0.030 OD wire (about 1/2 inch), silver sharpie and super glue. Pull the wire core out of the black insulation and feed our stainless wire through in its place. Straighten as best we can, lop off the old antenna (leaving a bit to use as the new antenna base) and drill a 0.5mm hole into the remaining base... New on the left (.007" stainless) vs old on the right (.015" stretched sprue). 2
Coyote_6 Posted September 7, 2024 Author Posted September 7, 2024 Some silver sharpie and a dab of superglue... And our customer is back on the road east bound and down. It looks like an improvement. 1
Coyote_6 Posted December 27, 2024 Author Posted December 27, 2024 @Dann Tier Thanks! Fixed up the tail lights so she's out of the shop now. Waiting on printing a 70's style California personalized plate. Had a European plate on there before.

bobss396 Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 I really dig garage dioramas. As a kid, my mom worked in a department store and would bring home heavy coat boxes that were white. The top and bottoms were usable. We would cut out 1 or 2 sides and have at it. I was about 12 at the time. Cut out windows, make frames from construction paper. A-frame engine hoists were a cinch. I really should get one going, it would have to fit into an 11" x 17" bankers box for storage. 1
Coyote_6 Posted December 30, 2024 Author Posted December 30, 2024 @bobss396 Brilliant idea to design the garage around a good storage box. So much dust in California, I will follow your lead. You definitely should start one! Steve
