Randy D Posted July 9, 2024 Posted July 9, 2024 Hi Tom, Always a pleasure watching your builds come to life! Randy
Repstock Posted July 19, 2024 Author Posted July 19, 2024 3D woes continued. I noticed the cab has acquired a noticeable "smile" when viewed from the front and rear. Because I have so much wrapped up in this, I removed the offending parts, sanded certain edges, and was able to re-assemble the cab minus the smile. Unfortunately, I didn't take pictures. If the cab acquires any more deformities, you will never see it in the BUILT section. I will never buy a 3D printed item in the gray resin again, I have finally learned my lesson. I have had no issues with items printed in white or tan. If I can save this cab, I still have three others that cannot be saved. No more gray. Ever.
Rockford Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 I'm so sorry to hear the issues you're having because you did such a brilliant job on everything. I hope you manage to save it because it's one impressive looking build.
RoninUtah Posted July 29, 2024 Posted July 29, 2024 When I did a 3D printed Mack F700 a few months ago (the build is in the under glass section) the inside and the roof of the cab were soft and sticky. I put it aside for a few weeks to finish curing in a dry place and it worked. I wouldn’t recommend soaking in water because 3D prints are porous and can warp. The Mack cab was fine, no warp or sag, but there was a pronounced graininess that required sanding smooth. By the way, I can vouch for Bren’s skill at 3D printing- and his generosity! He’s helping me out with a Freightliner project. Great guy.
