Custom Hearse Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 NIIIICE!!!! I like a good looking '57. I do have one question though.... Why does it have Pontiac seat covers? Thanks for the pics! It would be a cool car to build!
Foxer Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 Factory must have forgot to switch seat covers when they ran out of Chevy seats,
Lyle Willits Posted May 12, 2009 Author Posted May 12, 2009 NIIIICE!!!! I like a good looking '57. I do have one question though.... Why does it have Pontiac seat covers? Thanks for the pics! It would be a cool car to build! It has Pontiac seats ( not seat COVERS) becaus that's what the guy had available to him when he built the car.
Eshaver Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Hey, remember ther reason everybody went with the bucket seats in the first place . For those too young to remember . the seat would protrude over wher the stick " NOrmally " came through the floor board . Not until Hurst FINIALLY Came out with a stic for the 55=57 Chevrolets dod you have the option of leaving the seat un altered or change to buckets as most fplks of the era did . Ed Shaver
Modellpularn Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 No under hood pics? That fuel injection unit seems to sit mighty high, seeing that the intake stubs show at the top of the hood....and no fuel lines/hoses or linkage showing... Hmmm, I wonder if it's a fake injection on top of a four barrel.....?? No engine would sit that high in a 55-57 Chevy. I used to have a '55 Bel Air HT, and the engine was way down there. Those were the days, 30 years ago!
camaroman Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 (edited) there was a time, so i understand that the GM A-body seat was quite a popular swap into a hot tri-5 Chevy. Dave There used to be a Chevy dealership in Lavonia Ga that had this beautiful Turquoise and white '55 BelAir on the showroom floor with full GTO interior including the dash... IIRC it also had the Goat drivetrain...this was back in the mid 70's Hey, remember the reason everybody went with the bucket seats in the first place . For those too young to remember . the seat would protrude over wher the stick " Normally " came through the floor board . Not until Hurst FINALLY Came out with a stick for the 55=57 Chevrolet did you have the option of leaving the seat un altered or change to buckets as most folks of the era did . Ed Shaver My dad's '55 ran a Muncie shifter that had been re engineered to fit backwards to clear the seat... Edited November 12, 2009 by camaroman
