This is a car from the "Wirtschaftswunderzeit" in Germany after the war. it is a 1951 Borgward Hansa 1500 Sport Cabriolet. The Borgward Hansa 1500 was a fairly fast car at 121 km/h compared to the competition (Opel Olympia; Mercedes-Benz 170 V). The sports convertible presented in 1950 even had an engine that had been boosted to 66 hp at 4400 rpm. This meant that buyers could race along the then-empty German motorways at 150 km/h. With the rear swing axle and diagonal tires, however, this was a death-defying undertaking! The pinnacle of luxury at Borgward in 1951 was the convertible based on the Hansa 1500 with a body by Hebmüller. For an enormous 12,300 DM, you not only got exclusivity, but also four seats. The body was manufactured at HEBMÜLLER.
