Falcon Ranchero Posted August 21, 2024 Author Posted August 21, 2024 This just came for sale: 1966 Newport, 383, $5,000
gtx6970 Posted August 26, 2024 Posted August 26, 2024 I have been a fan of the big body Mopar's for ages. Actually owned a few. And oddly enough dug this out of the pile just this past week or so . In hopes to try and knock it out and into the case. Owned it nearly 20 years now I guess. So maybe its time . Its to be a replica of a car I owned several years ago 3

Its to be a replica of a car I owned several years ago I too have a kit of the car that I owned in high school. This also remains on my short list. My car was bright red with a black vinyl top, with a black bench seat interior, and a 440 with an automatic on the column, so some modification will be required. An interesting side note: I will have to substitute the wheel covers from the ‘68 300 for my model. The hub caps for these cars varied depending how early or late in the season that they were built. The wheel covers included in the ‘67 kit, (on the left) were correct for 1966 and early 1967 cars. The one on the right, (included in the ‘68 kit) were correct for late ‘67 and ‘68 models. My car had the later ‘68 hub caps. Steve Edited August 27, 2024 by StevenGuthmiller
gtx6970 Posted August 27, 2024 Posted August 27, 2024 Steve, Mine will NOT be any where near the level you build. For me just getting something to the finish line after such a long hiatus. I think this might be the kit / buildup I need to do just that Mine is a friction chassis promo I bought many years ago for just this build. Other than repaint it and some detail work, It will look the same in my case . If all goes well, that will be by the end of next week. Right now , its painted and sitting idle for a few days so I can polish it out a bit. But no matter, I would love to see what you do with the big boat 1
