Perfect for cutting out doors, hoods and trunks. Pin drill a hole and push the floss through and use the back and forth friction of the floss to cleanly follow the seam line. Is it fast? No! Will it hurt your finders? Yes! Does it cut a clean precise line that will allow me to use both the bod and the panel without needing a donor body? YES! I have had success with both wax and non wax floss for this method.

It is also a great match for underhood wiring harness and other wire harness applications. Just dip or spray the intended color and you are all set. Note... paint will not adhere to the wax coated floss.

This is an old method, but I will try it when I cut off the bumpers on my Veilside Nissan 300. Wish I done that to my MR2, would've gotten a cleaner line. Could you use a fishing line as well, or is the floss sharper and smoother?

I saw an article a while back about using thread stretched across a flexifile frame.

I would also suggest the braided fishing line. I don't think that stuff would ever break and it is much finer than the monofiliment.

I used fishing line. It gets hot fast and then breaks. It also cuts too wide a path for my taste. Was trying to cut the fenders to make a flip front and it was not as close a cut as I would have liked. Pretty much made a mess. Thread will work too, but it's really slow and breaks easy. Would be nice to use it stretched between a mini hack saw frame though. You can clamp it between two hemostats and mount the body and just move the thread back and forth.
