Round 2 of primer went much better I’m way more pleased with the results.

Decided to jump ahead and get the two tone interior in paint. I think the two colours will be a nice contrast to the exterior paint I have chosen.

Interesting color combo on the interior, Bil. They go well together. ?

Thanks Jim, I was kinda sceptical at first but I do like the look, it will be a great compliment to the exterior I think.

It looks like a stock-ish sort of combination. Is the exterior color a secret? Or are you thinking pea-soup green pearl? How about body mods? Shaved gutters? Sunken antennas?  Weird tail lights. Frenched rear plate. Canted quads and a '54 Desoto grille!...and cool lakes pipes.

I wish I had more cool parts to address some of those custom ideas. My custom skills are not that well formed. Let’s just say I’ll be using what comes in the box. I do like the make pipes idea though

Gotta make it your own.  The chopped Merc is an icon but it's an individual's interpretation of "the Chopped Merc" that gives it individuality.  Gotta look at a whole big bunch of them and see where you fit.  Lots of material in the ether.  I used to think they were all the same. They're not.

I just picked up a '57 300C kit. Makes a nice mild custom. Lots of plain, flat sheet metal. Already has some custom elements going on. Gotta get it down, though. Way down. Built one decades ago, stock version. I recall a severe fit issue.  But I digress......?.

Jim I’ll do my best to make this build something that would come off my bench. I have a couple of non kit things that should be different. I’ve found some ideas online, though some of those would have better to start with the amt kit.

Unpack that last sentence, the part about the AMT kit.

Some of the ideas were closer to stock, so the amt kit would have been a better start.

The chopped top isn't a consideration? I'm pretty sure I can chop a Merc but Revell did such a nice job, why not?  You're scaring me, Bil. ?

OK,  how about some inspiration shots?

To unpack, my comment was “some” of the ideas I found would have been better with the amt kit as it has the option to build stock, that was a line of reasoning for an amt kit. But those were ideas only.

Some of the stock parts are in themselves cool to me, like the stock bumpers and the the stock tail lights. But I’m working with what I have on hand so the revell kit is the way I’ll go. I do like the chopped top and the simplicity of the assembly for the frame. It’s a lot more pluses than the old Amt kit for sure.

Does that clarify it Jim? Sorry didn’t  mean to scare old fellas this early in the day might throw them off their geritol.?

My recollection of the AMT kit is a hole in the oil pan but that could be just about any AMT kit I'm thinking of. Anyway, I gotta go study for my lung function test.

i don't doubt, based on your previous work, that you'll make this one your own.  Interior color and craftsmanship is excellent!
