DaveInTheHat Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Another part of Davetown. This is my first attempt at scratchbuilding a building from paper. I made the tower from brass. More pictures: http://public.fotki.com/DaveInTheHat/davetown/wdav1095-fm/
Guest Gramps-xrds Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Awesome job Dave. What type of paper did you use. I built some things from sign grade poster board I had layin around. It worked pretty well (if you reinforced it w/ wood strips) and took artist acrylic great.
george 53 Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Dave, what scale is that? It LOOKS ta be about 1/64th. Like Hot Wheels size. Is it? Man, that's jus TOOOO small for these ol eyes! GREAT WORK!
Foxer Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Very nice! ... and the tower looks structurally sound.
DaveInTheHat Posted April 17, 2009 Author Posted April 17, 2009 Thanks! For the main part of the building I used Bainbridge 4000 illustration board. For the details I used posterboard and card stock. It's 1/87 scale.
Eshaver Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 As a former employee of a radio station , my hats off ! well done ! Dave a short comment here ........ A M towers all have fences around them because they are ELECTRFIED AND IF TOUCHED WHILE HOT , WILL KILL!!! I can see that you have a F M tower as the F M signal does not require a " Hot " tower. By the way , I was fired for playing the Steppenwolf song- " The Pusher " Ed Shaver
Custom Hearse Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 That is really cool Dave! I need to try doing something like that. That is really great! Ed, at least you got to work in a radio station. I spent $5000 bucks on broadcasting school, and now radio stations use computers for DJ's.... Just my luck!!!!
Tony T Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 Cool building! Love the Type 2 van, and Beetle in the parking lot. Rockin' DaveTown!
Dingo Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 I luv the combi outdoor radio rig & of course the cop who has pulled the young lady outside of the station, you R one talented guy whenit comes to dio's dave. dingo
george 53 Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Dave, 1/87th? How do your eyes feel after doin all that? I thought it was cool in 64th, but 1/87th, man you must have MACRO VISION!
DaveInTheHat Posted April 24, 2009 Author Posted April 24, 2009 Doesn't seem that small to me. I guess it's all what you get used to doing. It isn't that much different from detailing a 1/25 scale dashbord.
