miatamadman Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 After an entire year of scratchbuilding, Squad 18 is now in service. This model was entirely scratchbuilt with Evergreen and Pastruct styrene sheets and structural stock. The only kit sourced parts used were the wheels and tires. Everything else, hand made. I used the factory line drawings from Pierce as a guide along with numerous reference photos. The interior is completely detailed right down to the individual headsets. Raul_Perez Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Very nice, clean build!! What are the overall dimensions of the model?
Foxer Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 That is astounding! The gear alone should have got you into the funny farm! Truly a work of art! ..I think the real one looks more like the model The build pics were very interesting, thanks for posting them.
Lyle Willits Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 Another fantastic model from the master builder!
Dragline Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 I spent an hour this morning looking at the build pictures while having my coffee and I am completely in awe. I'll spare you the hyperbole and just say BRAVO! A triumph of patience and engineering. Humbling indeed. Dragline
Dominik Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 WOW! Its just an older post, sorry for that - but i'm a newbie and there is much to see... Great work - never seen such a type of model! First i thought, you based it on a LaFrance Tiller (?) but it is all scratch built! WOW! Great respect for this work!
Dr. Cranky Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Very interesting subject matter. You don't see too many of these out on the show benches. Great job.
Danno Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Awesome build, Zoli!!! Don't know how I missed this 2 years ago (think I may have seen it & commented on the Spotlight board, though), but I'm glad Dominik stumbled upon it and brought it up again. This is REAL model building ~ talented model building ~ and well worthy of another look. Truly deserving of the often-overused term "AWESOME."
