Gary Chastain Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 Wow, that look’s outstanding, well done 1 1
Jürgen M. Posted November 29, 2024 Author Posted November 29, 2024 Thanks Gary! How's your beer truck doing? 1
leafsprings Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 Very nice, the tanker is a big improvement over the previous camper. Any plans for a pup tanker trailer? 1 1
Biggu Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 Way better than the camper version. Very sharp and looks the part of a classy working truck. Good job JM!! 1
Jürgen M. Posted November 29, 2024 Author Posted November 29, 2024 Thanks guys! Yes, there will be a trailer! I think I posted a little video of the 3D design! Have to build my show case first though, otherwise there's no space for a trailer! The truck won't take additional space cause it was there before and was just "improved"! 1
Biggu Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 In my four weak eyes the ‘only’ thing that would make this truck look bigger and stronger is a set of floats …. Personally, and it is ONLY my opinion, but with the sleeper and those really cool single head lights it is a full package. Very well thought out.
BK9300 Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 Wow, Jürgen! Like Jeff said a few posts back - stayed away for a bit and came back to major changes. Same here - last I checked you were doing decals, now you’ve redone the front end. Well done! 1 1

It’s kinda taking a back seat at the moment, got rivets to do and repaint the hood and fender. The Autocar has taken priority as it will be in a competition, so it’s front and center. Then back to the beer truck. 1
Jürgen M. Posted November 29, 2024 Author Posted November 29, 2024 (edited) A competition? Wow! I once made second in a model competition of southern Germany with my K100 VIT! I was so proud! I wish you all the luck you can get! 🍀🍀🍀🍀 (Not that you need luck with your skills but maybe it helps)! Edited November 29, 2024 by Jürgen M. 2
Pete68 Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 (edited) Jürgen wow that looks awesome the Decals really set the truck off well thanks for sharing. Edited November 30, 2024 by Pete68 1
Jürgen M. Posted November 30, 2024 Author Posted November 30, 2024 (edited) Thanks very much! I just looked for corporate signs that fit the color, no affinity to Exxon. The decals are selfmade. Taken out of the internet printed on white decal paper. Edited November 30, 2024 by Jürgen M.

I'm always thankful for input from experienced truckers! What do you mean by floats? I don't know the expression referring to trucks! Sorry, but I'm still just a "Kraut"! 😊 1
The Brush Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 What a transformation, Very nicely done. Your a master with that 3d printer. 1
Jürgen M. Posted November 30, 2024 Author Posted November 30, 2024 Wow, thanks! I do try to design parts so the printing result is as good as possible but the printing lines still come out and are hard to hide. I may actually do one or the other buyable kit again and pimp it with styrene! 1
Jürgen M. Posted November 30, 2024 Author Posted November 30, 2024 I added marker lights to the tank along the sides and front and rear! 2
Jürgen M. Posted November 30, 2024 Author Posted November 30, 2024 (edited) Guess I can call the truck finished! I decided to post it "under glass" when the trailer is finished too and so the whole rig! Edited November 30, 2024 by Jürgen M. 5

Sorry, Jurgen, I didn’t mean to talk over you… “Floats” are those big fat tires you see on the front axle, they are actually called High Floatation Tires… I think they always look cool. BK9300 Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 Great job, Jürgen! Always a treat to see one of your designs come to life. Look forward to the trailer build. 1

Actually I thought about putting wider tires on the front axle but they wouldn't have fit. I'm glad I was able to put the Revell soft rubber tires on. 1
Jürgen M. Posted November 30, 2024 Author Posted November 30, 2024 I did think about making wider rims but since the axle was a bit wider (it's the one I had exchanged on my K100 build cause it was too wide) the wheels would have been too far outside the fenders. I tried out a few different variations and even printed a few to try it out but this was the best solution! Anyway, I again learned something new and I thank you for the English lesson! 😄 1
RoninUtah Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 Wow, that looks incredible! What a transformation! Amazing job, and a great showcase for 3Dskills! 1
DANGERUS Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 Wow!!! That is a stunning truck! I checked out this thread near the beginning, when you were still in the planning stages and I'm just coming back to it now. Beautiful job. I have dabbled in 3d printing, myself-- both fdm and resin printing. Fdm is definitely better for the large items such as the tank. Have you ever tried using an epoxy smoothing coating on your prints? I've seen ads for several products said to be intended to smooth out your prints, but I've never tried them. Seems like something that could make the finishing process faster and easier(?). Just a thought. 1
Jürgen M. Posted December 1, 2024 Author Posted December 1, 2024 Thanks very much Guys! Actually yes, I have thought about that epoxy stuff. I'll have to gather some more information about it. Saw some tutorials about it but they don't give you much info on the application itself and If the stuff smells, ...! The idea is in fact interesting though! Thanks for the suggestion. 3
