Back in September my Niece gave me this Coke GMC General. I hadn’t built a General in about 30+ years so I thought I would give it a try. I’ve built 2 of these and one Bison in my lifetime I kinda remembered the dark secrets of the fit issue. So I’ve been taking my time on it and overcoming these issues the kit has so far. This is what I’ve got done so far. I figured I would do a build thread on it being I’m working on it the same time as the GMC Astro. I picked  the name “Autumn Almond” because of the paint scheme I chosen and I got it at the beginning of Autumn. Enjoy the pics. I’ll post more pics later

More pics. I’ve had this set of decals since 1987 thought I would take a gamble and use them on this truck and they worked. You just can’t leave them in the water too long or they will curl. They have that milky substance to them like I remember all AMT/Ertl decals were. The interior has been painted just have to pic out the details. I painted the sleeper yesterday also.  Enjoy the pics.

Fit issues and all it, along with the Bison , build up into a really nice looking truck. This one is no exception, very straight and precise and I love the unique color! This is a beauty …. Super nice job, Lee.

Nice color combo! I actually think the General is one of few trucks that really look good no matter what color they are! That's my personal opinion though. It might be because of the tough design!

Anyway, it looks great and I can't wait to see what happens next!

Sweet, I like the GMC General, good looking truck.

Me too. I’ve been fortunate enough to drive 3 of these in my life. 2 standard hoods and one short nose. Thanks for stopping by

Thanks Jeff for the warm Complement. I’ve been taking my time and going slow with this. I’m hoping everything will come together at the end.

Thanks for the complement I appreciate it. Yes they look good in any colors and GM didn’t pull no punches when it came to paint schemes on these beauties. Thanks for stopping by.

Last night I got the wheels on the chassis. The chassis was very warped I did my best to straighten it when I put the wheels on had to do some adjustments. More updates later.

Looks nice and straight to me … I never would have come up with that color combo…. That orange frame is going to make that cab color just pop … what a nice clean build. I would love to drive a truck looking that sweet !!!

Looks great (and very straight) to me, excellent colour combination, the off-white goes well with the burnt orange.

GM really did well with the General, what a smart looking truck they were. That three stripe scheme looked good in any colour combination.

You're doing a great job on this, very clean and tidy.

Thanks Steve. About time you show up still a few seats in the front row. Yes the General was a pretty good truck if the owner took care of it but I dove one the steering column was wore and the dash was falling a part.
I also drove a beautiful orange 1985 GMC general that was cherry  tight steering tight steering column and a dash that didn’t rattle or was coming apart. Thanks for stopping by

Ok after Jeff “Biggu” reaching out to me and his great suggestions I think I have found how to make this Windshield fit better. Thanks again Jeff I appreciate it.

First as Jeff suggested I removed some of the material from the back and also around the whole windshield and it worked as it gave it more flexibility and cutting some off the back makes a looser fit as well.  Enjoy the pics.
