junkyardjeff Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 I picked up this body and would like to match the paint, going to make it full gendered.
Little Timmy Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 Testors Green metallic sprayed over silver primer. I think ... ???
Phirewriter Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 The Pactra spray 'namels had a pearl coat green that looks similar sprayed over black.
junkyardjeff Posted November 16, 2024 Author Posted November 16, 2024 Will take the body with me to the hobby shop and see what is closest as it most likely was painted in the 60s but would be nice if still was available.
TonyW Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 I'll agree with Tim here, Silver undercoat with metallic green over that. The problem you are going to have with matching, is that the green looks very thin in some places, and seems to have pooled in others. The body line at the base of the cowl has what looks like pooled paint in the crease. That bit is probably the closest you will get to the pure color. It looks thinnest at the lower rear quarter with silver showing through on the door seam in that area as well. The silver is having a different effect on different parts of the paintjob. Good luck with whatever course of action you take. Tony.
junkyardjeff Posted November 17, 2024 Author Posted November 17, 2024 It's not Testers metallic green as the fenders are painted that color now, going to soak that body and just paint everything metallic green and be done with it. I would loved to match that paint but just too old. 1
