Not sure if anyone is really interested at this late date, but I found this photo in my historical model car files this evening.  It's all the participants in the first ever NNL Nats back in 1980, photographed here 17 years later at the NNL Nats in 1997.  Upper row from the left...Chuck Helppie, I, Gary Dale, Andy Martin....lower row from the left....Tom Woodruff....Karen Woodruff...Bob Bost.   Thanks for checking it out...TIM

A true historical moment captured for all to see and enjoy for many years to come.  Had it not been for these seven folks dedication to sharing our hobby through friendship and community, there is no telling what shape the future of our hobby would have taken, or if it would have had a future at all.

Hi!

I agree, things could have gone downhill much faster, and the landscape would be filled only by play stations consoles. Lucky for our hobby, it survived!

The Ohio NNL will always be special to me being able share those moments with my wife , son and sons friends. The overnight stays at the Courtyard and the meals had at the Outback restaurant across the parking lot. The swap meet at Lucas County recreation center in conjunction with model show was epic , I recall vendors being setup in the hall ways connecting the fiedhouses which were packed wall to wall. It was models and toys as far as you could see. Awesome best describes what this group of guys accomplished.
