vizio93 Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 (edited) i got the 66' GT350H kit for a birthday some time ago and i just now ripped into it. i'd like to make it kind of like the, fast and the furious 1, Dodge. i want the back to ride a little high and the front either low or stock. can anyone help me get the stance looking good? here are some pics: Thanks Edited May 4, 2009 by vizio93
diymirage Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 i would start by getting some slightly larger rear tires that will bring the tail up a tad and give it a much more agressive looking rear end
vizio93 Posted April 21, 2009 Author Posted April 21, 2009 ya that would wouldn't it. i like the wheels though and i don't know if they would fit in the slightly larger one's that i have. i'm thinkin that i should paint it gloss black and have a big blower. would that look good?
dwc43 Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 I like the way it looks in the pics you already posted. Looks realistic. Any bigger on the tires or angles just wont pull off that realistic muscle car look in my opinion.
58 Impala Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Those wheels and stance give it a 60's nostalgic look, I'd leave it like that.
vizio93 Posted April 21, 2009 Author Posted April 21, 2009 thanks you guy's i'll post some pics as soon as i get it painted some time this week. Do you guy's think that if i put a big blower coming out of the hood that it would make it look too drag-ish or not ? because i like the idea of it lookin like the fast and furious charger but i still want it to have the aggressive street look? Thanks
dwc43 Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 (edited) It might look a little dragster looking, but if you keep the paint scheme a single color I think it'll look good. As well a stock interior without the racing stuff in it. Make the engine look like a street engine too. Put carbs on the blower instead of an injection hat. Put the 3 hole scoop on it and run a linkage wire from the scoop to the carb. It'll look more street that way. Edited April 21, 2009 by dwc43
jbwelda Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 i think it looks good in front but the back should be brought down just a bit to close up the gap between the rear tire and the wheel arch. it would still look like its raised in the rear with the front low, but it would just kind of lower the whole thing overall just a bit over how its sitting now.
Blue coyote Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 i think it looks good in front but the back should be brought down just a bit to close up the gap between the rear tire and the wheel arch. it would still look like its raised in the rear with the front low, but it would just kind of lower the whole thing overall just a bit over how its sitting now. I agree. Tuck the rear tires just a hair up into the fender lip and it'll have more of a "street muscle" look, and a bit less of the "1/4-mile waiting to happen" look
vizio93 Posted April 21, 2009 Author Posted April 21, 2009 O.k. i will put the blower on it and put the detail like you were saying. I agree with lowering the back a smudge, it is a little high it will probably look good if i just raise the rear leave springs a little. has anybody ever done a project like this ?
dwc43 Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 has anybody ever done a project like this ? On many a car in the past, just not that Mustang. I think it will look good though.
vizio93 Posted April 21, 2009 Author Posted April 21, 2009 On many a car in the past, just not that Mustang. I think it will look good though. Thanks
vizio93 Posted April 22, 2009 Author Posted April 22, 2009 Here's a pic of one I built about 9 years ago. I think you're on the right track, just stay with it. hey that is a nice 'stang ! What engine do you have pushin that thing? i like that exhaust. i was thinking about putting side exhaust on it. i need to know were to get some or if it would be eaiser to make it. can i see some more pics ? anyway nice build
dwc43 Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 You know what else it needs? A set of traction bars. Nothing says street car like a $20 dollar set of Lakewood traction bars that never seemed to provide any extra traction on the real cars.
vizio93 Posted April 23, 2009 Author Posted April 23, 2009 hey that's really nice. I think that the exhaust is just fine. i just get mine painted either thurs. or fri. I don't know if it should be black or silver now i think i'll stick with black so mine won't look too much like yours! did you have any trouble with the stance?
vizio93 Posted April 25, 2009 Author Posted April 25, 2009 I finally got it painted and it came out beautifully. i decided on a different color. The paint is testors grey primer. It is a great color and i mostly changed my mind because i ran out of black, but what ever. Hope you like Here are some pic's: please comment Thanx
MyBradKeselowski Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 can't C the color U painted it, UR pic's R 2 dark. U might make them brighter...
vizio93 Posted April 25, 2009 Author Posted April 25, 2009 sorry i painted it last night. and it was kind of dark. I 'll post some new pics today.
dwc43 Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 Primer is always a great base for some black paint after a light scuffing up you know. Easy to change your mind that way.
vizio93 Posted April 26, 2009 Author Posted April 26, 2009 Alright i got some new pics and The engine looks great. i believe that it will give it that agressive look i'm going for. Here they are: Thanx for looking. please coment
dwc43 Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 Not bad. Throw a wired dist. in there and some linkage pieces and it'll look like it's ready to hit the streets.
vizio93 Posted April 26, 2009 Author Posted April 26, 2009 yeah i just need to get down to my LHS and get some wires. i might need to get some exhaust tips too. i plan on getting the exhaust to come out the side of it like my 68' firebird i posted earlier. Thanx. p.s. do you run the wire from the carberators to the distributor or where?
dwc43 Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 Get your dist. from here. They look more like the real thing than what my Hobby Town carries. http://scalemodelingbychris.com/mad_distributors.htm You can use wire to connect both throttles on both carbs together and then run another wire to the fire wall to the carbs once the engine is installed for the throttle linkage. Once you install the new dist in the hole in the block you can run the wires between the headers where the spark plugs go. There's [ics on this site of the engines and how they are wired up.
dwc43 Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 By the way, stock Ford uses blue cap and black wires. You could go blue cap and yellow wires for Accel performance plug wires, or red wires for Mallory, or Blue for Moroso or MSD.
vizio93 Posted April 26, 2009 Author Posted April 26, 2009 thanx for all the advise. those wires are really nice. i think the yellow wire's will set the engine off. thanx i'll post more pics as soon as i can.
