Brutalform Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 (edited) I finished up the white “mule” car, and now Ive started the Melrose Missile AWB. First time building one of these with the Hilborn FI. Does anybody know how these parts fit together? The instructions are vague, and has everything illustrated so you can not really see how it goes. Brutalform Posted December 12, 2024 Author Posted December 12, 2024 (edited) I figured it out. According to the instructions it all ties in behind the water pump pulley, and nothing about the bottom tab going into the crank pulley. But, obviously that’s not correct. Thanks anyway Edited December 12, 2024 by Brutalform
stavanzer Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 Hey, Tom. Is there any way you could post a Pic of how that part fit after you figured it out? I'd like to know what I'll be facing when I build mine. Thank, Alan 1
Brutalform Posted December 13, 2024 Author Posted December 13, 2024 Sorry Alan, after I had it on it just didn’t look right, as the belt was not aligned with the water, crank, alt belt. So I took it off, and touched up the area where the paint got chipped. I think what needs to be done, is trim the post at the bottom of the pumps belt, so it fits into the hole in the crank pulley flush, and then install the fan, but not fully so it doesn’t hit the pump. I gotta check to see if there will be interference with the fan and radiator. Just finished the plug wires and called it a day. 1
gtx6970 Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 Most of the Fuel injected hemi cars Im familar with . Has a pump / drive bolted the front timing cover driven off the nose of the cam
Brutalform Posted December 14, 2024 Author Posted December 14, 2024 Thanks Bill. I’ve searched for pics and got some ideas. If you go by the Moebius instructions, you’ll have it looking terrible. Since I broke off the pin that goes into the crank pulley, I cut a piece of 1/8 inch styrene rod, and glued it to the bottom of the belt where the pump is. Painted it, and used epoxy to fasten it to the crank pulley. Then I had to add a brace between the bracket and head, using .040 rod, as it needed to be more secure. I’m happy with the way it turned out. 2
