Rockford Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Good colour choice. The Hendrickson suspension does look the part though that would ride hard! 1
ShakyCraftsman Posted March 7 Posted March 7 Let's get with it Buddy! Updates. updates. I know you've been working on this.😁 Ron G 2
Biggu Posted March 11 Author Posted March 11 I see it has been a while since there was an update. For the past month or so I kind of lost my passion for posting but I have been ‘encouraged’ to get back to it by the guys that are closest to me on this site and have become good genuine friends, Brian, Ron, Gary and JM , thanks guys for the poking and prodding and the genuine friendship. Over the past weeks I have been working on this build along with chipping away at the Payhauler as well …… I decided to change this truck kit away from box stock as I could within my budget and skill level. So to that end there is a fairly large numbers of small changes and additions. But, it is not a tri-drive and most definitely not lengthened as I am not a fan of those super long frame trucks. My ‘personal’ feeling as to how I build my rigs is to how they may look going down our twisty mountain highways here in B.C. Now that is not to say I won’t do a custom truck one day soon , as there is a build going on this site that is spectacular (Gary) and really has me thinking. …🤔…. But I digress. Because this has been a while since I did an update , I’m going to have to figure out where I left off…. I decided to change out the airbag suspension to a heavy haul Hendrickson rubber block setup. The suspension I chose was a 3d set from 3d Concepts in Edmonton, who make really nice parts and adding more all the time. This set actually has little rubber blocks ! This was one of the first ones issued and had since been updated with rear end hangers. Mine are ‘scratch’ made. A little frame clean up and careful measuring and voila on the frame it went, these have nice detail.
Biggu Posted March 11 Author Posted March 11 Here are a couple more pics of the suspension installed and then the rear ends mounted 3
Gary Chastain Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Nice addition/detail to your build, helps tell the story behind this rig. 1

BK9300 Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Very tough looking rear suspension - bet that would feel pretty solid driving down the road, especially without a load! Good to see your update. 2

Good to see your update. Oh , yes. The rubber block was great with a load but a back breaker without, when the truck was empty , I always looked for the smoothest part of the road. It could be very rough
Biggu Posted March 11 Author Posted March 11 And here is a brake chamber change. The ones in the Italeri kits are grossly under sized and not the correct type or style as we have here in BC. So between Brian and Bren ,they teamed up and Bren printed me a few of these little jewels, correct style and type and beautifully detailed. So I upgraded to spring brakes on all four rear wheels and ditching the undersized spring brakes and service brake chambers 4

Jürgen M. Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Looks great Jeff! This is gonna be another one of your marvelously detailed builds! 1 1
Biggu Posted March 11 Author Posted March 11 Landon, JM, thanks for checking in, I have to admit, I do like the different suspension set up, and it is starting to come together quite quickly now... thanks again guys... this is a departure from what I normally do, with a lot of changes and a ton of after market.....

RoninUtah Posted March 12 Posted March 12 This is looking amazing, Jeff, I can't wait to see it built! Your attention to detail is first rate. 1

Jürgen M. Posted March 12 Posted March 12 I don't think I'll ever figure that out! I'm way behind in that stuff! Looking great, Jeff! 1
Biggu Posted March 12 Author Posted March 12 (edited) Under a splash of paint …. I was originally going to paint the frame red or something a little more dynamic, but as I am trying to go for a clean sharp realistically looking operational unit ….. so in that vein, semi gloss black it will be ….
