Dingo Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 I'm not into Nascar model building (I build rally cars) at all but after seeing a few on this forum and watching it on our new free to air sports channel. What I would like toknow is what kit would I use if I wanted to build a Toyota Camry as I do know that they don't make a car that size or with a V8 here in Oz. I'm not into Camry's but it would be different from all the Ford's, Chev's & other regular makes that are here on this fabulous forum. Dingo
Nick F40 Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 As you probably know already, I NEVER reply to anything that is with NA$CAR unless it's a well built by some of the guys on here or if it's the REAL ones like 70's on back! Since you're in australia, you don't really understand why NA$CAR isn't much of a favorite for me and select others but the V8's are nice. I still think you guys have the REAL stock cars, I mean using the real powerplants, cars that have RWD from factory and still LOOK like the real car, even with today's "technology" I love V8 Supercars, those at Adelaide or Bathurst I played them, all the time on the TOCA games. You should turn one into a V8 Supercar. REDBULL!
Dingo Posted April 23, 2009 Author Posted April 23, 2009 Nick I know U'r dis-like for the new version of Na$car and I agree after wot they did to model builders, here in Oz 2 manufacturers tried to get their cars into the series but where knocked back (grounds unknown to me), the manufacturers where Mitsubishi using the '90s era Magna built as a rear wheel drive 5 liter V8 then of late Toyota using the Oz designed ?????? Avalon also a V8 the only difference between these 2 cars and the Ford & Holden was that both had quad cam motors where ford is a twincam per head and ofcourse the Holden still use the crappy single cam set-up, the governing body and the drivers committee both said no go I think Nick it was because they didn't like the idea of getting their butts kicked by Aussie built jap cars whcih ofcourse they're not. Now back to my queirry I'm only asking because I do have an older Nascar in my collection the '69 Dodge Charger Winged Warrior and I want to put a modern car along side it but I don't want to ussual type sitting there as it would look BORING. As for turning an Oz V8 supercar into a Na$car sorry Nick I would disgrace either car with that look even though I don't like Holden at all, anyway I'll jsut keep looking and thanks for the idea on the V8 Supercar Na$car. Dingo Posted April 24, 2009 Author Posted April 24, 2009 Thanks Micheal for the info on Mick's Decals I been there and had a look and have fallen into a bit of a hole and that hole is PayPal as like with EvilBay I have been banned from using them due to an unpaid item and bill that I did not buy so I now have to contact them to see if there is another way of getting what need. Dingo
george 53 Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Ding, Mikes right on the decals. That's the ONLY outside difference. They're ALL the SAME! No diff at all. That's why it's lost so much of it's following among modelers, they're ALL the same, just diff paint jobs,an decals. Nascar is ONLY a shell of a once popular sport among modelers, in fact I'm pretty sure Monogram has STOPPED poppin Nacsar kits!
roadhawg Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 (edited) I do know that they don't make a car that size or with a V8 here in Oz. Dingo They don't make a V-8 Camry here either....or anywhere. Just another reason it shouldn't be called "stock car" racing anymore. Nascar is ONLY a shell of a once popular sport among modelers, in fact I'm pretty sure Monogram has STOPPED poppin Nacsar kits! George is right, Revell(ogram) discontinued their Nascar kits, but not because of falling popularity....it was because of Nascar greed (licensing fees). Edited April 24, 2009 by roadhawg

Maybe not as much as SCRAPCAR but pretty close.
Nick F40 Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Blowngear and Spec car. And about the V8 supercar idea, HECK NO, you have it twisted, turn a NA$CAR into a V8 Supercar, what they SHOULD be.
