ABC Auto Industry Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 I'm curious, where can I get some large off-road tires for big rig models? I've seen one or two custom models with such tires, but I can't find any model truck parts sellers with such tires. The only source I know of is the International Payhauler kit. Anyone know where to get these kinds of tires?
ns4ever Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 have you tried kit form services? he sometimes has some british military pattern heavy off road stuff, plus some of the auslowe big wheels too?? http://www.kitformservices.com/
ABC Auto Industry Posted April 24, 2009 Author Posted April 24, 2009 Yes, I've checked them out. However, I was thinking of even larger tires, like the ones on this Hayes WHD model: http://sourkrautsmodeltrucks.com/wp-w3pup....p;w3_imageid=79
Jim B Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 How about these: http://www.aitruckmodels.com/pages/rm8fr.html They look like the tires on the Hayes.
mardtrp Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 Another source for odd-ball bits and pieces, is at the local BIG BOX, just take a stroll down though the kiddies toy section, it's amazing what you can find for different models.
coopdad Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Give The Parts Box a try. They are adding many offroad tires often. The tires are under the "wheels" link... look for 4x4. http://www.thepartsbox.com There should be something there that work. John
ns4ever Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 just remembered an articel in tmw about about a 1:25 scale wheeled crane/ loader type thing, designed as a load for a low loader. The crane/loader was (i think) scratchbuilt, but the wheels were huge lego wheels, and looked great. andy
