JerseeJerry55 Posted January 4 Posted January 4 To all hello and Happy New Year. Quick question in regard to painting the drive wheels on the AMT IH 4070A drive wheels. The wheels are beautifully molded, however not sure how to approach painting them. I could go White spray paint, but that may too boring for my project. Frame is going to be a Satin Blue, and the cab will be White with the Blue kit striping. Therefore do I go with any of the following: White Silver Blue The only thing I am not into doing is trying to brush paint the inside of the wheels. Too hard, and my hands/eyes aren't that good anymore. Suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you. Kind regards, Jersee Jerry
yh70 Posted January 4 Posted January 4 spray paint them a gloss or a satin white. what ever white you do the cab with.. silver want look good.. blue below the frame would be to much blue..the white on the rims will break up the blue and look way more better..
Old Buckaroo Posted January 4 Posted January 4 (edited) This is how I would paint Dayton wheels - Id spray them with the spoke color I wanted. Once that was good and dry I would mask the center with a round disk of tape cut out for the center cap , Then take a another piece of tape and cover the inside of the rim being careful to leave the outer ring exposed for the next color. Those circular templates sold at art stores are worth their weight in gold for making circular patterns. Edited January 4 by Old Buckaroo add pic
