Sketch1982 Posted January 13 Posted January 13 I'm in the process of building the old MPC Nitro Bird funny car model. It's a 1/25 kit. I bought it off eBay a couple years ago when the seller claimed it was complete. It isn't lol. I'm missing the rear spoiler & the packed parachute that goes on the back of the body. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can replace these parts? I've never worked with styrene before so cutting one out would probably be a failure. Any tips or help would be greatly appreciated. I'm not as skilled as most anyone on this forum so I apologize for my ignorance on these topics in advance. Thanks!
Shark Posted January 14 Posted January 14 There is a "Wanted" section further down in this forum, you may have better luck finding these parts there.
Fat Brian Posted January 14 Posted January 14 It looks like the spoiler piece is just a piece of flat plastic. You could replicate it from a sheet of Evergreen plastic stock, and you will have plenty left over for other things. It won't have the rivet detail but it's better than it being gone. Definitely post in the wanted section for a parachute, it might not be the exact one but they all kind of look the same.
stavanzer Posted January 14 Posted January 14 Well, here are the directions. After Looking at them, it looks like Brian is correct. Spoiler looks to be just flat plastic, The parachute could come off of any Funny car. Good luck making/finding the parts. https://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/mpc-instructions/straightline-competition/mpc-nitro-bird-pont/?view=roll#1
Steamboat Posted January 14 Posted January 14 I'm sure I have a parachute. PM me and I'll send you one.
