Hey all

Well I used up some of that 985.5' of cable. 😁😂🤣 I wound it around the main winch 5 times. I did some more work on the Cat C15 6NZ and started making the shocks.

20250403_135114.jpgThis view shows the main winch with the cable attached.

20250403_135122.jpgBack view of the winch.

20250403_150845.jpgThis view shows the oil dipstick that I added to the engine block. Just under the exhaust turbo.

20250403_151154.jpgThis view shows the oil fill tube I added to the front cover.

20250403_151212.jpgCloser view of the fill tube, the cap is removable.

20250403_170711.jpgThis view shows one of the rear shock absorbers & mount that I scratch built. Just need to make three more, plus the four front shocks. I need to add the bolt heads to the mounting points of the shock, but not till it's all painted.

Well that's it for now be back with more updates soon.

Hey everyone

Well, I've been trying to get these done for over a week, but those pesky squirrels have been driving me nuts!..lol. The front springs.

20250404_143204.jpgThis view shows the front springs completed.

20250404_160337.jpgThis view shows the copper "U" bolts for the front springs.

20250404_165354.jpgThis view shows the upper "U" bolt mount with a shock mount pin. One done three more to do.

20250404_165454.jpgThis view is a closer look at the upper "U" bolt mount. That's one of the shocks on top.

20250404_171159.jpgA little mock-up of the chassis.

20250404_171310.jpgAnother view of the chassis.

20250404_171357.jpgThis view shows the front springs are now done. I still have to make the four clamps for each spring. 16 altogether. I also have to figure out the front steering. That's it for now be back soon with more.

Wow, this js very painful to watch (I mean this in the most positive way), so many little details and repetitions required!

But the effort is very rewarding here, it is turning out to be incredibly awesome.

Yeah, the repetitive items make it difficult to keep going for sure, but I'm determined to finish this beast.

Excellent engineering and execution once again. Nice and clean and very expertly done , Ron. My hat is off to you.  This is modelling in its purest form. Well done. Like Gary says, impressive work.

Hey all

Got some more work done on this build. I now have all of the front suspension, rear suspension and "U"joints installed permanently and ready for paint. Because this is Sooo big. I'm going to paint the rear first, then the front. It won't fit in my paint booth. It will all be semi gloss Tamiya black.

20250408_142348.jpgThought I would start with a little mock-up.

20250408_150946.jpgThis view shows the nuts/bolts/washers I added to the front differentials. I did the rear ones also, but didn't get any pictures.

20250408_161330.jpgThis is a view of the other side bolt heads I added. Well that's it for today I'll be back soon with more updates.

Oh man, you will need to grease all the joints so they can move without squeaking noise!

And you must make sure you torque those bolts correctly to ensure proper operation! 😀

 Very nice work!

Hey all

Small update today. I now have all of the shocks made. 4 front and 4 rears. These we're a real pain in the rump, because of having to make them identical.

20250410_134837.jpgThis view shows the 4 rear shocks.

Shock frame bracket.jpgThis view shows the frame shock mount bracket. Have to make 8 of these.

Monroe magnum HD shock (1).pngThis view shows the real shock.

hp-slider-magnum.pngThis view shows the decals I need to have made for the shocks. Anyone interested in printing them? Hint...hint

20250410_150534.jpgThis view shows the front shocks. Now I just need to paint them, add the decals, add the mounting bolts and then mount them.

Nice detail. Shouldn't the front springs have equalizer beams between them though ?

Not sure what you mean, can you post a picture.

Hey all

I got a start on the front equalizer rods (torsion rods).

20250411_154358.jpgThis view shows the equalizer rods on the passenger side sitting in place. I still have to make the other side plus the mounting brackets.

 I my get this painted...eventually...lol

Looking very technical!  I really like it!  Very interesting to see how the driveshaft position is offset, marvelous stuff!
