Monogram 1971 GTX hood - MPC 1971 Roadrunner / GTX body

Did the original issue MPC 1971 RR or GTX have the same air grabber hood as the more recent yellow issue

If not, Anyone modified the monogram hood to fit the MPC body ?

If so, and anyone has one, Im interested 

 

I see Harts parts has the hood in resin. Anyone used it ? How is the quality ?

 

But I would really prefer plastic if I can find one

Yes, the GTX did have that hood.  It, and the grille, were pretty much the differences between it and that year's Roadrunner kit.

I have a Harts Parts 71 MPC GTX hood. Mine fits well and sits flat on my original issue 71 body after a small amount of sanding.

The original issue MPC 71 RR had an air grabber just like the 90's issue 71 RR.

The original issue MPC 72 RR had a bird bath style hood similar to the MPC 71 GTX hood.

Thanks, Its going to be a bit before I start this particular build. SO I have time to see if I can find an original hood.

 

At least the resin version gives me an option

Harts hood fits good. The Monogram/Revell hood needs 1-1.5mm sanded off of both sides and the front to fit.

I cut out the underhood firewall and inner fenders and used them on the 71 I’m turning into a 72 using Harts parts.
