OldSkool81 Posted March 8 Posted March 8 Hi, I hope I'm in the right section, but I've been searching the aftermarket sites for a while now, and didn't find anything. Do any of you know of a supplier or a model kit where I can find these valve covers for a 454 Chevy? It's for a retro build, and only found the smooth Edelbrock valve covers so far for a 454; it sucks because I found some for small blocks, but the shape is wrong. Any ideas?
DJMar Posted March 8 Posted March 8 (edited) IIRC, the initial issue of the AMT '55 Chevy pickup had these valve covers for the kit's small block. I don't know if anyone makes this style - very poplar in the late 80's - for a big block Chevy, though. Edit: since the actual valve covers have a separate plate bolted to the top, any chance you can use the small block valve covers to fab yourself a pair? Edited March 8 by DJMar

Are you talking about the '55 Stepside or the Cameo? The small block and big block valve covers are a different shape, but I think you might be on to a really smart Idea!!! Very simple, but very smart! IDK why, but my mind often focuses on complicated solutions, instead of the obvious! And believe me, being able to see the obvious is a real gift nowadays! Thanks for the reply, I really appreciate your idea!!!!😃👍👌
Mark Posted March 9 Posted March 9 Only the stepside ('55 or '57) will have those covers. The Cameos only include stock parts. 1

Only the stepsides have these parts, the Cameo is a stock affair. Apologies for not clarifying. 40 minutes ago, OldSkool81 said: The small block and big block valve covers are a different shape, but I think you might be on to a really smart Idea!!! I remember making RTV silicone molds for these covers back in the early 90's, so I could cast the tops in sprue goo or 5 minute epoxy and use them on various projects.
Exotics_Builder Posted March 9 Posted March 9 The only Big Block version I recollect of this is a Model Car Garage engine dress up kit that included resin valve covers (and different air cleaner types) with a PE version of the top. https://www.modelcargarage.com/eshop/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=363 2
