NitroMarty Posted March 25 Posted March 25 (edited) Have you ever gotten to the point in a build where you're waiting for some glue and paint to dry.... So you decide to look at some other model in the stash, and the next thing you know you're slinging glue at a car that you had no intention of building??? (At least not yet) This is the story of one such project.... While waiting for some glue and paint to dry on my '62 Dart fuel coupe the other evening, a Pyro 1/32 scale '37 Chevy kit that I had recently scored happened to catch my eye.... The next thing I know I'm gluing together the multi-piece body and digging through the box of bits from them old Monogram Hemi Fiat/Boss Willys/Ford Screamer 1/32 scale drag kits... Stuff that I have been gathering over the past few years.... After about an hour of playing around with the Dremel, and gathering all the right parts, this is what I had.... Now it's time to get back to the Dart😁😁😁😁😁 Edited March 25 by NitroMarty 2
NitroMarty Posted March 30 Author Posted March 30 Been playing around a bit more with this little project... Bashed together a straight axle front suspension, using aluminum tubing, soft steel wire, and a transverse spring from my extensive junk bin.ī Scratched up some basic ladder bars and shackles for the rear... Really liking how it's sitting.... 3
NitroMarty Posted April 1 Author Posted April 1 Stumbled upon a suitable hood scoop for a 60's era gasser. No easy feat in 1/32 scale... The source... A fender top scoop from an old Johan Petty Superbird kit. 1
NitroMarty Posted April 19 Author Posted April 19 (edited) Did just a little bit more on this one today...... Some 3D printed 1/32 scale fender well headers that I found on eBay showed up in mailbox, so I dug the '37 out of it's box just to see how they looked.... I think they're going to work out fine. I also drilled and pinned the headlight buckets, then I grabbed some aluminum tubing and fine wire and threw together a simple little rear weight bar/bumper. Edited April 19 by NitroMarty 2
stavanzer Posted April 19 Posted April 19 Very Neat! Some Fine Kit Bashing/Scratch Building going on here! I like the stance.
Chris V Posted April 20 Posted April 20 Amazing project Marty! It’s rare to see 1:32-scale models get the attention they deserve, but knowing your work I’m certain that you’ll do it justice! On a side note: Would you by any chance happen to have a spare outer front wheel half from Monogram’s 1940 Willys in your stash of 1:32-parts? I recently inherited a built-up Willys from a fellow modeler who is sadly no longer among us. Since then I’ve been looking high and low for a front wheel to complete it…
NitroMarty Posted April 27 Author Posted April 27 Laid down a couple of coats of Tamiya TS-18 Metallic Red earlier today..... 1
