Scale I Build

  1. This kit is definitely unfamiliar to some of the members of this forum. This is one of the only 2 kits made for Lindberg’s “Super Car Series”, a detailed 1/32 kit series, which otherwise has the Porsche 911, which seems to be even rarer. This was a kit I sought after for some time, and I’ve now finally got the opportunity to build and complete it. A definitely unpopular kit in its heyday, it only got 2 unique issues, the regular red sprue version with extra customizing parts, and an unfortunately decontented white sprue IMSA version, which is the one I have. The IMSA version seems to be the cheaper of the 2 versions, as the regular version seems to go around 30 dollars, which seems a bit much for a kit like this, especially since bigger 1/24 or 1/25 C4 kits can be had for 20 dollars in my experience. (I got this for 10 dollars btw) For what it is though, it’s a surprisingly detailed kit at 1/32 scale with a completely separate drivetrain and exhaust, though it seems that it could be a copy of the AMT corvette kit as the sprues seem familiar to the AMT. So starting on the kit, the body seems to be in decent condition, with a shine to the plastic, only hampered by the scratches when you look closer into the body. It has detailed engravings of the backup lights, license plate, and gas cover. Unfortunately the body is noticeably flawed, with the worst being the rear’s parting lines starting to separate from the rest of the body. 😟 The rest of the body seems to just have regular mold lines though, as well as excess flash. This car is absolutely tiny! The chrome sprue tree seems to still have a nice shine, even after over 30 years, probably due to the kit being in a dry climate in its life. The engine, oil pan , and transmission are molded into one, split into 2 halves to be assembled together. The stock wheels are there, as well as the front corner lights and the rest of the engine bits. Unfortunately the taillights seem to just be chrome pieces you glue into the model. 🙁 Overall, the detail isn’t nothing to write home about, and it seems a bit simplified as well, but it may actually be beneficial at this small of a scale. This sprue with the rest of the engine parts seems to be a direct copy of the AMT sprue, just with less fidelity and a set of custom challenge wheels, which fit the IMSA aesthetic. A pretty simplified set up of the rear suspension, with hood hinges and brake discs(?) included. There’s also a roll bar, but it’s too dinky to actually be realistic, so i may consider forgoing that bit. Not much to say here other than that it’s a simple interior with some flash on the parts. There are holes for the dinky roll bar. Airdam seems to be a separate part from the body, as it’s on a sprue away from the body. There’s also a somewhat distorted dashboard, and a hood with cut outs for the non existent hoodscoop. I assume the other regular version has that bit. That kinda sucks. 🙁 Some pretty decent tires are included, with tire lettering on the sides to boot! They seem to be Goodyear Eagle VR50s. Decal sheet seems fine, though it’s just a generic livery. Instructions seem to be serviceable, with a good enough detail to be seen. Interesting that there is Japanese text on there though. Was this sold in Japan at one point? Overall, this kit seems to be just a shrunken down ANT kit, but the detail for its size is worth the 10 bucks for me. I do encourage feedback, as I don’t want to mess up a unique kit like this.
  2. I squeezed in one more quick completion this year. Low parts count, body split in half, one piece wheels/tires. Out of the box, all I added were acetate windows and headlight lenses. Thanks for looking, comments welcome.
  3. This thread was inspired by another thread: Aurora made more than one show rod model kit but used kit names that didn't require licensing (I'm guessing here). One of the first that I spotted being the Car Craft cover version of the Li'l Coffin which (as far as I can tell) came out as "32 Skid-Doo"...as mentioned in the Li'l Coffin thread. The next Aurora show rod I spotted was the Silver Sapphire or, otherwise known as the Little Deuce Coupe from the Beach Boys song...which Aurora sold as the Ram Rod I am wondering if anyone here has ideas or info on what cars or show rods Aurora use as inspiration for the following kits: Old Ironsides Meat Wagon Hot Surfer 39 La Salle Hearse Beatnik Box Snap Dragon "T" For Two (I think I spotted this one but forgot where) Sad Sack Wolf Wagon Road Raider Moody Monster Woodin Wagon Scat Cat The Charger Shiftin Drifter Hi Stepper The Spyder
  4. Hi The engine mount of the airplane is shown here. Some improvements have been made to make the model more detailed. The carrier and the transport carriage have been scratched. Some pieces of the box model have been replaced and they have been made to scratch using aluminum to make the motor more real. https://youtu.be/qH4NLRAHfk4 a greeting
  5. Hello partners Model F / A-18C Hornet, scale model 1/32 scale Academy. The model is on a surface that simulates the deck of an aircraft carrier. https://youtu.be/oG7yjxOB9Xc A greeting and I hope you like it
  6. Hey Guys, I see in the forums list, a section for BIG BOYZ, but nothing for the smaller scales. Now I know there be at least one reply posted (and many more thinking about it) of how hard it is to see small stuff as we are aging (and it is a pain!), but I have an interest to build some stuff in smaller scales, but have a problem that plaques it. No real good engines. The only true decent ones are the Monogram Ultimates, one being the 1/43rd engines of the Chevy 427, and the Ford 289. But for a couple of 1/32nd engines that are marginal, there are no really good engines available. Well, I have spent time looking on Shapeways, and even there, I found nothing for auto engines in small scale but for some aircraft engines. So I have talked to a vendor about interest in making some, so if you too would be interested, please let me know. Thanks,Kevin
  7. I Started a Smaller Project in between my other, as the Title says it will be a Custom Hornby 1:32 Ford Focus WRC. I already painted the 1st Coat of paint on the outer Body, my choice Grabber Green. Picture didn't come out as good as I wanted it to, so will post a better one tomorrow with the 2nd Coat. Hope you all will enjoy!
