...the mounting points on just about every part are not made for each other...pins too big and or holes too small...easily fixed with a little reaming or scraping...

I ran into this to the extreme with their asphalt modified kit that I am working on.  Plus the clearances between things on the real cars are very small, so on the model, there is practically none.  Many parts need to be altered in some way to get everything together and looking right.  I'll finish this one but no more, not worth my time to do another.  I can build (and detail) several Tamiya kits in the time it takes to do a Salvino's kit OOB!

By the way, you're whipping that Monte into shape!  Looks good so far!

I cut off the mounting pins on the body and ground about 2.5mm or 3/32" off the front edge of the horns of the bumper to get it, here..

Good enuf...any more and risk the body horns overhang the bumper

Ok...so went ahead and gave it 2 light coats of  Duplicolor sandable black primer,..waited 45 min and started laying down the Duplicolor Victory red, warmed  in hot water.  2 light coats, 2 medium...Think we got a winner...the black took just enough brightness out of it.

Happy

I guess that's good to know, but between my hobbies, everyday life and 1:1 race car, I am exposed to enough dangerous materials as it is.  I'm not going to have hydrochloric acid in my house or garage just because a hobby company can't make a product that is decently user friendly, like every model company before them.

That’s where I’m at.  Having HCl in the house just opens up a whole lot of bad possibilities… not going there.  I’ll put up with the chrome.

The chromed wheels had a lighter coating on the centers, so hit them with Alclad chrome to even them out                                                               and got the tires sanded out ..a 7/16" socket fits perfectly

Now, on to that crazy front end cage..my goal is to get all suspension dry fitted to check the stance.

More to come..Qs, Cs, and Cs always welcome...encouraged really.

This is what you need to sand tires with. It's a toilet seat bolt. Take one nut and put it on the bolt backwards so that the bevel faces away from the bolt head. I usually take ca glue and make that a permanent fitting at that point. Then take a Dremel or back saw and cut the hex head off of it. That end fits in your drill. Slide a tire on it and then screw the beveled part of the other nut onto the bolt and that will center up the tire, so it runs true. You can over tighten it if you want to bulge the tire to modify how you sand the surface. And this way it won't slip as you are sanding. Pretty secure and easy way to sand any size tire.

Thanks, just looking at them reminded me of how the cones are set up to center the wheels on a tire balancing machine. They work great. Hope it works for everyone.

Mission accomplished as far as stance goes...everything just taped and balanced..

Now I can tear it all down and set the pins and spacers in place.

Engine coming along..

And did some work to the interior..added a head rest and the lower 4th bars

I agree with @Kevinjr26, that stance screams old school Winston Cup car. Makes me miss how great NASCAR racing used to be. I really like everything that you’ve done. Great work!
