These Powerslides are awesome decals. Only had one split on me and it was a very tiny one. But I was able to put it back together so no biggee. 1
Volzfan59 Posted July 13 Posted July 13 Ah yes, the never ending honey do list. in the words of Slick Willie clinton “I feel you pain”.

MarkJ Posted July 14 Author Posted July 14 All the decals are done except the front fender and door contingencies which I always leave till last since they are the hardest to do. Still no issues but I almost messed up a headlight pod 12. The small ones are always the hardest. 1

Kevinjr26 Posted July 15 Posted July 15 I am the same way i never seem to be finished with a build or i notice things too well i guess
MarkJ Posted Wednesday at 01:20 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 01:20 PM 15 hours ago, Kevinjr26 said: I am the same way i never seem to be finished with a build or i notice things too well i guess Kevin, I tried to use the oob hood and trunk fastener decals that came in the kit, but they refused to separate from the backing paper without coming apart. the sheet also does not separate the decals from each other. you have to cut them out exactly. I make better decals then that. I will now have to make some styrene hood and trunk fasteners like I usually do. I'm not wasting a sheet of decal paper just to make 5 fasteners. Thanks for your reply
MarkJ Posted Thursday at 04:55 PM Author Posted Thursday at 04:55 PM Here is the process I use to make the hood and trunk fasteners. If you look at the picture of the pliers you will see a sneak peak of the model. I didn't know it was in the shot right before I'm posting these wips. Just a really small partial shot of the left front fender. 1
MarkJ Posted Thursday at 10:19 PM Author Posted Thursday at 10:19 PM Well, I finally finished her at 4 this afternoon. I fixed the left quarter glass fairing and installed the hood and trunk pins. I then put a coat of future on. it's my usual ending to any of my projects to protect the decals from peeling in the future. Hopefully in a couple of days I can take the final photos and get them in the Nascar under glass forum. It took 120.5 hours to complete. Started the project in April. Here's a sneak peek below. I will have better lighting when I do it for underglass.

MarkJ Posted Friday at 09:18 PM Author Posted Friday at 09:18 PM (edited) I can see from the response to my last post that like my wife nobody understands my weird sense of humor. Let me splain what's going on here. I built this model 53 years ago, I might be wrong about the exact year but when MPC came out with their Nascar series of kits, I could not find the Coo Coo Marlin Monte Carlo kit, but I wanted to build Bobby Allisons Coke Monte Carlo because he finally brought Chevy back to being competitive again and win some races. I had to buy the Jim Hurtubise kit and also an AMT Monte Carlo kit for the donor body. I put it together the best I could, and brush painted it with some testors enamel bottles and then painted on the numbers and sponsor info and his name. I used the decals from the Hurtubise kit for the contingencies. I always wanted to do a do over of this build and the real one is safely sealed in the display case till I can take the final photos and get them posted in the Nascar Under Glass forum. Back then we did not have the resources we have today like computers, the internet, Aftermarket decal makers, that I knew of, and a place to share our models in discussion groups. So, forgive my lame attempt at some humor. Edited Friday at 09:24 PM by MarkJ
Shark Posted Friday at 10:54 PM Posted Friday at 10:54 PM Hey Mark, I thought it was funny and knew that was an old build right away, just laughed but didn't respond.

Thanks, Todd. I can see how responding to that post might be difficult. You're not sure if you are dealing with a person who has all their faculties or not. I assure you the real build looks somewhat better than that one. Now if I can just find time to take some photos, I will get them posted. Thanks again for your reply.
MarkJ Posted 14 hours ago Author Posted 14 hours ago Got all the final photos taken. I just need to send them over to my editing program to size them right and also add my texwardfan logo to the top right corner of the photos. In the past I would see a photo of one of my builds on ebay and the guy was trying to sell my model on ebay but it was safely on my shelf not for sale. So that's why I put the logo on all my final photos. I've actually seen my builds that I know had logos, but they were removed, and the guy was using it to sell his decals. In a way it's kind of flattering but I still wasn't too happy about it.
