This is my build of the AMT Peterbilt 359 California Hauler model, perhaps the most beautiful conventional truck model in the entire AMT line. As far as I know, this model corresponds to the year 1967 but AMT launched it to the market in 1969. The model was assembled without major problems and I did my best to build it. The model has the decals from the model kit and I painted it with Tamiya TS 39 (Mica Red) for both the body and the chassis. For the interior I used two shades of brown while for the Detroit Diesel 8V-71 engine I used white in keeping with the usual for Peterbilt trucks of the time. I thank everyone for taking the time to look at this simple build.

Very nice build, well done! You are correct that AMT based this on the initial 1967 model, which had a 2-bar grille. Peterbilt changed it to 3 vertical bars late in 1967 and it's been that way through various iterations and subsequent models to the present day.

Fantastic work!  The truck is looking superb here.  I also like all the additional details you have implemented throughout.

I think the kit has some shortcomings, but your build shows off how awesome it can turn out.

Great job on the AMT's first authentic big rig kit, without the success of this kit, the others would never would have came.  Excellent detailing really adds to the build quality, especially like the interior work, looks factory Peterbilt!

That is beautiful!

Did you dechrome things to paint? The fuel tank and the steps??

Hello, thanks for your interest. Honestly, no, I painted the model as it came, although the tanks and steps were not chrome-plated.
